Disney is going to milk the franchise completely bone dry

Interesting that it will be separate from the episodic Skywalker Saga.
Nevertheless, for myself, more Star Wars is always a good thing.

In another announcement today, Bob Iger said they will also be developing a live action Star Wars tv series set to debut when they launch the Disney streaming channel in 2019. There will also be new Marvel live action content and other properties developed for the channel as well. -M

But hasn't a live-action SW TV show been attempted before this?

But hasn't a live-action SW TV show been attempted before this? There were plans to do one before the sale to Disney, a show focused on the criminal underground of Coruscant I believe, for a network that never got off the ground and it was scrapped before the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney. This is the first time since Disney has acquired Star Wars that something for live action TV has been attempted. -M

I know we had to have watched that back then but I don't recall much of anything about it...which may be a good thing. However, I do remember them on the Muppet Show:

I was thinking more along the lines of how good the Star Wars cartoons have been and how I think that'd easily translate to live action.
But yeah, the Muppet show appearances were great!

I've been loving this fan comic lately, the art is amazing and the slice of life kind of stories are fun I do wonder how long this'll stay up as Disney Lucas has been pretty hardcore about defending their IP in the past.

That’s very good! I agree, it’s a risky proposition... If Disney wants to shut this down, all these efforts will have been for naught. Unless, the Force willing, this comic serves as an entry card for a professional job on a licensed Star Wars comic! In any case, I wish the SW comic from the ‘70s had looked half as good as this. (Sorry Carmine; Al Williamson you were not).

And the art is truly stunning, I've been enjoying the recent Marvel run but if the art looked like this it'd be one of the best runs ever so i'm pulling for these guys to get noticed in a good way.

Meanwhile, on Rebels....
....We've reached the mid-season break. The timing of this hiatus is to allow The Last Jedi to soak up as much exposure as possible but the cartoon is expected to return early next year to air the final 7 episodes of the series.
While it didn't end on a true cliffhanger, the series did stop on a very dramatic moment as the team has returned to Lothal to investigate the Empire's new production facilities of their new fierce TIE Defender fighter. But the secrets of Lothal seem to run deeper (and darker) as the Empire may have more sinister plans afoot there beyond the new TIE fighter as well as Kanan & Ezra learning more of the planet's apparently stronger (and more spiritual) connection to the Force, a connection that seemingly will have a huge role to play in their destiny.
We've also gotten our first appearances of the X-wing fighter (along with the U-wing) and for those who've read Timothy Zahn's Thrawn novels, the first on-air appearance of his personal assassin, Rukh of the deadly Noghri race. And yes, he makes his presence (and prowess) immediately known.
Also I did learn that the Forces of Destiny cartoon series (which focuses on the SW female cast) has verified that at least Hera, Chopper (and the Ghost) survive to Endor in ROTJ. I'm glad of that because really, she's become a very strong female lead (along with Sabin) and this last break episode not only shows how tough and resourceful she is but also how much she has grown in being a leader, fully earning her Rebellion rank of General.
