Bad stretch for the Sox as we approach September. JBJ sprained his thumb, even if he gets back, thumb injuries affect hitting, especially power for a long time. Betts has a bruised knee and is hobbling. Price looks like he might not make it back this season. Pedroia will still need to rest his knee once he makes it back. Sale gets roughed up last night, and tonight oh vey! Five errors behind Porcello as he gets roughed up in one of his shortest outings of the year, and a bad throw by Sandy Leon leads to Nunez falling on his wrist and spraining the wrist and thumb, so he's going to be gone for while too. Not sure if Carson Smith will make it back this year either, and the bullpen needs another reliable arm.
They have a decent lead for the division, but a lot of bodies are going to have to step up to maintain that lead down the stretch, and even if they do, not sure if some of the walking wounded will be there for the playoffs. No excuses, everyone is dealing with guys down, and those that are left need to find a way. If they do, it's going to be one hell of a ride, if not, it's going to be another disappointing autumn at the Fens.

Great fight between McGregor and Mayweather
Dummies in the media were saying that Conor wouldn't even be able to hit Floyd and he ended up winning at least 4 rounds by my count (Canelo, one of the Top 5 pound for pound boxers in the world couldn't even win one). Great effort and he would absolutely destroy Mayweather in the octagon.

Julian Edelman tore his ACL for the Patriots. Sucks, but I don't think the Patriots offense is going to miss a beat. Because well...Brady.

But, he was at a distinct disadvantage not being able to fight the way he's used to fighting.

Any fight with a very predictable ending is boring in my mind.

McG was tired by the fifth or sixth. Mayweather just waited out McG's early flurry and then hit him 62 times to McG's 14 in the last two rounds. An upset would have been a great story, but it wasn't going to happen.

McGregor's big problem is conditioning Even in the two fights against Diaz in the UFC he was sucking wind by the midway point of Round 2. He jumped up to 170 from 154 in a 24 hour period. I think that really backfired on him against Floyd, whose stamina is second to none. Still, I was impressed. I'd love to see him just maul Floyd in an MMA fight but that's never going to happen in a million years.

Yep This was McGregor's first (and probably only) professional boxing bout and he stood up to the best boxer on the planet for 10 rounds. You have to give the guy credit for that. Overall, the fight was infinitely more entertaining than the pillow fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, which people pumped up for 7 years.

But who would you put your money on in an alleyway street fight?

A lot of college football action the last couple of days. I'm not really into college ball because of time and I'm just more of an NFL fan. Saw some highlights of Josh Rosen for UCLA against Texas A&M. Led as historic comeback for the ages. Got lucky on a couple of big plays, but it was still cool.
NFL is just around the corner.

Nice to see the Patriots lose like that. Too bad it wasn't in the post season where it counts.

As a Jets fan, seeing the Pats lose is the only thing I have this season.
The Jets will be lucky to win more than 2-3 games this year.
But if that leads to Darnold/Rosen wearing green and white by the end of April, then I'm all for it.
As prospects, I'd put both of them above every QB to come out of college since Andrew Luck.
