I i have not seen it but I am going to. This is yet another example of a Danish actor playing a villian. If you are a Danish actor and you get an international role there is a veeeery good chance it is as a villian. Mads Mikkelsen in Casino Royal, Docter Strange and the Hannibal Lector tv series being prominent examples.
I promise you guys we are not all evil!

About 5 degrees (celcius) in 4 in the afternoon. We might get some snow in a couple of weeks.

My goals are going to be relatively simple. I am not really planning on buying a lot and focuse more on reading what I already have. Reading Goals: Read my entire backlog. About 30 physical comics, 6 collected editions and about 50 digital comics. Acquisition goals: Not much. Buy a few select collected editions and maybe a few issues of Sandman mystery theather or The spirit to fill out some of the wholes in my collection. But its not really a pressing issue for me. If I end up not getting any its not really that bad. I sat small goals and mostly did it. I did not end up buying a whole lot, in fact I sold more things of because of space issues then anything else. I did read a bunch of my backlog, but I also did at because of digital sales. I have no problem reading newer comics on a tablet and it saves me tons of space. I think with next year I might get rid of even more physical comics, although there is a couple of things I am planning on adding too.

Sandman question: I presume it's best to read the volumes in order, but can the first one be skipped? I read it a few years ago but don't recall much about it at this point, apart from finding it just OK. So I'd refer to skip ahead to the 2nd volume unless forgetting everything that happened in the 1st is likely to lessen my appreciation of the later books.
I think I asked this before and was told that the 1st book isn't really characteristic of Sandman as a whole but again, it's been so long I'm not sure how reliable that memory is either. Ummmmm...the first book, Preludes & Nocturnes, is certainly rather hit and miss. It feels as if Gaiman is throwing lots of elements at the wall to see what sticks. That said, bits of volume 1 are excellent (I'm thinking particularly the final issue of that story arc, "The Sound of Her Wings"). The early chapters also set up a lot of Morpheus's character and explain who he is. Could it be skipped? Maybe. But my feeling is that, even though it's the weakest volume of Sandman so far (I'm only up to volume 5 though), it is well worth reading, especially in the chapters where it's good. This is what I wrote about it earlier this year, having just read it for the first time... classiccomics.org/post/329275/threadOn a related matter, I'm seriously thinking of taking my reviews of the series so far, expanding on them, adding more pictures, and creating a dedicated Sandman review thread. My "short reviews" for the series have all ended up being much longer than I intended, and I sort of regret not starting a proper review thread for the series. But then, I guess I didn't know if I'd enjoy it enough to finish it when I started. Although I guess it could be skipped I dont think there is a reason to do it. As confessor says the final, issue is pretty good. I also think the volume introduces quite a few characters and plot points that comes back later on.

Started playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Stairway To The Destined Duel and Pokemon Fire Red Stairway To The Destined Duel was a friggin' gateway drug for me back in the day and helped me to learn and appreciate Duel Monsters as a card game, also doesn't hurt that it takes place during the Battle City Arc of the anime, which I loved. Really great little sim, but my only problem is that the decks that you choose to start with are absolute crap with too many lvl 6 to 8 monsters and not enough lower level ones to spawn them. Kind of makes the opening play through difficult as hell until you either win by sheer luck and get one of many card packs to choose from or get one of the weekly free card packs In my years of playing Pokemon, I've never really touched Fire Red or Leaf Green and have preferred to just go back to the Gen 1 games, even though many claim that they're broken as hell. Not much has really changed gameplay wise with the upgrade to Ruby & Sapphire tech, though it does look a lot nicer in terms of game mechanics for pokemon one of the biggest changes happened in gen 4 with the physical/special split. I have played very pokemon generation and when I play gen one I prefer firered. Lets go pikachu/Eevee is also a gen one remake, on the switch, but its a bit different. i have only really been playing on my switch for some time now and it is pretty greate.

I love reprint issues. I bought a handfull of them to take with me on vacation this summer. All from Marvel since that was what I had available to me. Some of it was stuff I have read before, like several Spider-man related issues, but some of the Starwars and Conan was not something I have ever read and enjoyed. For me Conan is one of those characters that I dont really need a large collection or omnibus of. A few stand alone issues are fine. As long as the price is good I am willing to check it out. Although I am likely to pass most of them on to friends or family. Although some of them I might use for class. I teach English as a second language for high school students here in Denmark and one of the subjects I sometimes use is one about comics/graphic novels. I think they will work fine for that.

Re-reading the Lee / Ditko original run of Amazing Spider-Man. The older I get the harder they are to read; sad to think that if Ditko hit the market now he wouldn't make it in this business. I still really love the Ditko art, but seriously, not just here but in most of Lee's dialogue, it's got some real painful spots that are hard to swallow. I respect what he did, which hadn't been done the Marvel way before, and I like Stan and all, and yet, I'm kind of looking forward to finally getting through the series. Weird ? Its funny, I feel the exact opposite. When I was younger and read the Lee/Ditko stories in reprints they bored me, but now I love them.

Was 1982's Poltergeist the first ghost film to take place in the suburbs? No. Off of the top of my head Halloween (1978), The Amityville Horror (1979), Carrie (1976), and The Exorcist (1973) all predate Poltergeist and all take place in a suburban setting. I also want to say that, although it's not really a horror per se, Rosemary's Baby (1968) was set in an apartment block in an urban setting. Would you really count Halloween or Carrie as ghost films? Scary/Horror sure but ghost film? Or is this a language thing and I am just not getting it where ghost refers to something more broad then actual ghosts?

It was also announced Breath of the Wild 2 is in development. More of that would be cool. I hope but doubt they release it on Wii U as well since I already have one. The Wii u is completely dead by now unfortunately.

ROM is one of those series that I really want to read more of, I have a couple of random issues, but trying to track them down could be a pain. I wish they would figure out license so I could just buy it in collected edition of some sort. Getting back issues for me would mean ebay/online and would take a lot of time to get them all in a price I would be okay with.

It is election day today here in Denmark. On top of that it is constituation day too which means most people have had the day off. If I did not have work tomorrow I would sit up most of the night watching the results coming in, but I am a teacher and have a class of students doing their english as a second language exam tomorrow so I feel I need to be as well rested as possible.

I fear for franchises when they go to the small screen. I always think you get a lesser product. I think when something goes to Tv it indicates that it might to be as popular as before. I think you are right but we have seen some examples of the opposite happening. Buffy the vampire slayer and Daredevil comes to mind, although those are rare.

From what I read there is one major difference between this and the old collections: DRM locked, meaning you can only read the comics directly from the flash drive on a computer. I have no interest in that. I have one of the older cd roms with Ghost rider and thise are great. Those are just PDF you can put on other devices and I have done so with my Ipad. But reading only from my computer? Not interested in that.

At the risk of sticking my hand into a wasp nest I will just say this: When I see Americans, no matter where they fall on the political spectrum, refer to how things are in “Europe” when it comes to stuff like schools I cringe a bit. There are major differences between countries so talking about how things works in “Europe” often ends up ignoring so many factors its hard to ignore for me. I am a highschool teacher and guidens counsler and I work with this everyday so some of the last few pages just touches a nerve. I am not directing this against anyone specific btw so I hope I dont offend anyone with this.
Oh and for those who doest know I am Danish.
