Quick thoughts on current WWE action. Don't believe Brock will win at Day 1. Roman will be allowed to defeat him so that he can have the longest title run, cementing his place in history as THE HEAD OF THE TABLE. I do think Big E will lose if only to provide him some downtime to rest up with the hope he comes back stronger to retake the title.
Whether it is Vince or the writers screwing things up I have no idea. But lots of truly good talent are being wasted. Nakamura has the Intercontinental title but is doing the tag team crap with Boogs instead of title matches. McIntyre is wasting time chasing the idiot Happy combo instead of wrecking everyone. Flair and Lynch strut around trash talking but doing very little when Bailey, Banks and Belaire were kicking butts every week with their title runs.
The tag teams are a mess. Spotlight the big name guys while tossing crumbs to the others. I am so tired of some talent having more ring time for their entrance than in a match. These quick smashes in minutes (like Friday's Brock on the Bloodline) does nothing but show how "fake" wrestling is. I wish more time and thought was given as to what makes good characters, stories and conflicts to set up WRESTLING!
And my man Cesaro is left to jobbing for everyone when he is so much better than many on the roster. How do you give a truly wonderful 1st introduction to Xia Li and then not follow up the very next week? I miss my Street Profits on Smackdown. I want the SMOKE.
lots of waste in the shows slowing them down making it more difficult to watch. I am at the point I record Friday and watch it Saturday so I can Fast Forward through the bad parts.

#7. Valerian and Laureline
Can a space hopping time traveling man from the future and a medieval peasant girl from the past make their love work? From 1967 to 2010 they do just that becoming a French and then international classic to eventually being brought to life in a movie.
This is a recent favorite for me in the last few years as the original series here in the USA was always sparce findings and expensive until the movie release. Quickly I fell in love with pairing of heroic Valerian and the feisty, intelligent, sassy, beautiful red head Laureline. As they travel the universe through space and time we quickly find the couple's complexity and strongly humanist and left-wing liberal political ideas mixed with humor and love.
There is a natural ease and warmth found here and it shows that love can be found and be as spectacular as the wonders of the vastness of space and time.

Just saw and REALLY enjoyed all the aspects of the film. Lots of creative scripting, CGI truly captured the essence of Spidey's movements. Superb acting from everyone. A very emotional and tear packed movie. Not a dull moment to be found.

I also thoroughly enjoyed POA crossover with King Kong and Tarzan. They could have bombed big time but they were truly well executed and entertaining. Tarzan versus Predator is another well done one that might just as easily been ridiculous.

#8 Carmen and Heraclio from Gilbert Hernandez in Love and Rockets
While Hopey and Izzie from were fun, it was this couple living in Palomar, facing life's challenges as a married couple that was deeply sad and emotionally painful for both of them and yet their love kept them together while overcoming all obstacles. It was so real and cuts through the heartstrings in delivering an honest, complicated and mature compelling love story.
Carmen was abandoned on a doorstep as an infant with a note that read "Good riddance". She has a poor education in comparison of her husband Heraclio who is a school teacher. They have a son, Tito together and Carmen soon finds out that Heraclio when younger, fathered Luba's second daughter Guadalupea. Rather than condemn her husband or allow anger to rule, she tries to help Tonantzin and make her part of their life and family.
Perhaps because I grew up knowing such couples (usually teens not even out of high school yet) struggling to do their best in sad situations, this married couple truly spoke to me. And they endured and overcame their personal obstacles sharing a pure love in support of and embracing each other. I would read the Palomar stories 1st as it was just so compelling and a truly touching story of life.

No excuse now for you Confessor for not participating in the 12 Days of Christmas! Plenty of free time so you can play catch up! Know you will include a certain green furry varmint and his white haired sexy companion! 😜🎅

So, my wife and I have come down with Covid. I started to exhibit symptoms on Tuesday and did a lateral flow test which came back negative. But by Wednesday I had pretty much text book Covid symptoms -- temperature, loss of taste/smell, and a persistent cough -- and my wife was ill too. So, I did a drive-through PCR test this morning and a positive result just came back. Clearly my wife has the same thing, so we're self-isolating from now until Boxing Day. Yay!!! :/ Sorry to hear. Hope you and the missus recover quickly. Heck of a way to spend the holiday.

Man, I can go both ways on this. I can usually turn off my brain, simply enjoying the comic. Some things though I feel work in their own limited universe best. Keep ERB series in their own shared universe. Same for REH characters. Transformers is to far out fantastically to function within the MU as the heroes HAVE to step into the stories regularly. Godzilla did manage to make that concept work with S.H.E.L.D.tracking big green and worked in heroes regularly.
GI Joe/Cobra can work in the MU OR DCU but wish much better in their own universe. I was OK with Conan' connections to the MU in the 70's because they didn't do full blown inclusion and time travel. Not read or interested since Marvel got him back. Star Wars/Trek/POA deserve their own universes and yet some of the "crossovers" are fun.
Predators/Aliens go well together but not sure inclusion into other universes is all that and a bag of chips. Again, as one-off What-If/Elsewhere stories they can be fun. Dredd and his worlds should NOT be a part of any universe other than it's own. The King Features teaming of Defenders of the Earth was great but Flash or Phantom and gang won't really work in our regular superhero worlds.
See what I mean? Am I wish washy or what? The DC Multi-verse works well, providing multiple yet separate worlds for ALL to live and adventure upon.

Two classics for me.
Edward Nigma the Riddler. Might be from my love of Frank Gorshin bringing the green and purple (is there no better color scheme for villainy?) king of riddles to life but it's more about Nigma being a MENTAL match than a physical one. No end to story ideas there and it is usually his own ego that feels things up in their mental contests.
Selina Kyle the Catwon provides several challenges in her green cape and purple skirt (is there a color plot here?) In their deadly dance through the night scape of Gotham. Her feline derived schemes are always interesting as she challenges the Dark Knight on physical, mental and emotional levels. These many times allies versus enemies versus lovers have a long intricate history together which provides lots of entertaining stories.

#9. Destro and the Baroness
The Cobra couple you hate to love, but they are just despicably great as a couple. Both can declare their love for the other even while plotting behind their back some new scheme. More than capable of ruthlessly using each other or taking advantage of a momentary weakness (a lot like real life eh?) for their own delight, yet both still have their own code of honor in their evilness.
Break up to make up seems to be the song of choice playing during this duo's dances. If 2 people "deserved" each other's abuses and love then it is this power couple. There is a cold ruthless love burning hotly in their hearts which makes for great comic book reading.

Congrats to Prince Hal. I didn't give that cover a second look, so I am curious why people voted for it. Of course people liking different covers is part of the fun of this contest, so this isn't a complaint. I am just wondering what the appeal of that cover was for others. For myself, it was a NEW cover, not seen before. Bright, colorful, a piece of memorabilia from a different time. It popped and stood out as unique.

Whoever sets up the mtg (traditionally Icctrombone ) posts a link a few minutes before it starts. If you have Zoom set up, you should just have to click on it. All well and good, but I'll be the one posting the link (next week's meeting has no time limit, as a reward for starting my account) and I don't know how (Rob did it last week).
Cei-U! I summon my technical ignorance!
Icctrombone should be able to help you out Kurt. Using Zoom at work for meetings it is fairly simplified. Not sure about differences for home/personal use. The basic is: Sign in to your Zoom web portal. · Click Meetings. · Click Schedule a Meeting. · Choose the date and time for your meeting. You may also be able to pull up a calendar in Zoom, click on the date/time to create. Once you have a meeting scheduled a link should appear and once saved you copy and paste into a message/post. In the CCF in our Zoom thread for the rest of us to click on to join up in the meeting.

#10-Ralph and Sue Dibny
Mr. and Mrs. Elongated Man detecting in life (and death, damn you Meltzer) and love as DC's answer to Nick and Nora Charles. As one of my 1st noted married couples these partners were equal to each other. In love, in smarts, in being an actual TEAM devoted to solving clues and deciphering mysteries whenever Ralph's Gingold infused nose would begin twitching.
One of the very best couples in marriage that were NOT constantly bickering, fussing or torn apart emotionally. Our rubbery sleuth was always jovial, happy and fully in love with his wife. They partnered up in a healthy, caring way which was refreshing in the sordid soap opera world of super heroing.
