This proved to be a much richer topic than I would have guessed! I love lots of the entries, but I keep going back to the one offered up by tarkintino DC's mystery comics covers are ones I haven't spent a lot of time studying, so there are lots of them that feel very fresh to me, and that appealing Nick Cardy ghost town cover, with the train station and scenic rolling landscape in the background reminds me of some top-tier Twilight Zone episode. I don't know if it would have had me itching to purchase off the stands in the early 70's, but I love it today.
(And I enjoyed seeing the contestants share some of their strategies. I'll be sharing a detailed overview of my own strategies in a few weeks when--fingers crossed!--I finish off my secret personal cover contest challenge project.)

There's a briefcase/satchel there, not just a jack-in-the-box. This was a tough one for my secret personal cover contest challenge, but now I'm down to only 7 (or maybe 9, we'll see). The end is really in sight, now, and my options for cover choices are getting very limited, but I think I can complete this!

Important spoiler: this is not actually Sherlock Holmes on this cover! { ...}It's important because the restrictions of my secret cover contest challenge, in which remain now only a maximum of 8 more covers (although I might still expand the parameters and add a few more), prevent me from using a cover featuring the "real" Sherlock Holmes. Why is that? Well, for one hint, I previously used the cover that EdoBosnar posted above. That means I can no longer post any covers with Sherlock Holmes. Here's a link that should include all my posts in the cover contests (including prior entries and comments in the contest threads). Can you spot the secret theme that links my entries over the past year and a few weeks? Please don't spoil it if you do--the challenge is getting difficult for me now, as my options are increasingly limited!

I love Murphy Anderson's work, and he's my Hawkman artist, beating out Kubert. So I could have happily voted for any of the Anderson covers this time, but I settled on: foxleyI gave it the edge for including Katar's partner Hawkgirl, his future co-star the Atom, and best of all, the profile integrated into the logo, something I've always loved. {...}Unfortunately, I couldn't participate in this week's contest, since I already used a Hawkman cover way back in our Norm Breyfogle contest. Hopefully I can join in this week--there are only a maximum of 9 more covers to go in my personal secret cover contest challenge. Although I might still expand the parameters and add a few more. I'm part of the world, and yeah, this just might drive me mad: And now the final countdown begins! If all goes according to plan, there are no more than 10 covers remaining in the secret personal cover challenge I've been engaging in for just over a year now! Here's a link that should include all my posts in the cover contests (including prior entries and comments in the contest threads). Can you spot the secret theme that links my entries over the past 53 weeks? Please don't spoil it if you do--the challenge is getting difficult for me now, as my options are increasingly limited! Can I find appropriate covers that satisfy the next 10 contests, whatever topic they may be? We shall see! Remember, I sit out contests for which none of my options qualify, and I only hit the 'like' on covers that could potentially have been ones I could have used somewhere along the way, so that's another hint! Also, I do have a backup plan that could increase the duration of this challenge, but I hope not to have to use it...

Elongated Man #1 (1992) I love the exasperated expression that Mike Parobeck gives to the beautiful Sue Dearbon Dibney: Thanks, Mecha, for this topic! Being able to use this cover will make it much easier for me to finish my secret comics cover contest challenge, now in its 52nd week--the one year anniversary! I have a maximum of 11 more entries in my project, but it may still be extended by 2 to 10 additional entries. And by the way, I appreciate most of the covers posted in these contests, but I only hit the "thumbs up" like button for covers that would have been eligible for me to use somewhere along the way in my project--another hint for anyone who is trying to figure out what links these covers!
