I also bought a 20 issue Jack Kirby fourth world set. It's only missing issue #15.

This is another of my highly sought after issues. This book completes the Jack Kirby New Gods 11 issue series.

Again, that is subjective and where the cover should speak for itself. It's above the cover itself, not the poster's perception of the cover. If a cover fits a topic in the perspective of a poster, that's great, but it should be up to the cover, not the poster to convey that perspective to everyone else. How everyone else sees how the cover fits the topic is part of the the subjective perception of the audience, not the purview of the poster. To boil it down tot he basics, my vote is not based on what the cover means to you or how you see it, it comes down to how I see it and what it means to me, and the poster's perspective is completely irrelevant to that. -M Let’s all wax poetic on the weekly top shelf Friday thread. ( how’s that for the hard sell ?)

Along those lines I started thinking that to add a new wrinkle to this contest Each week posters can add something about the cover as to why it should be chosen as winner for the cover contest Just a thought. I like that idea. That’s quite awesome, actually.

This week all of them are going to be obvious. The one that is not, will get my vote.

Sorry, forgot the Tales of Asgard feature.
Another chapter in Loki's hatred for Thor, but it also shows that he has no loyalty towards Asgard.

Journey into Mystery #115
April 1965 "The Vengeance of the Thunder God" This is my copy Comments:
Nice issue that wraps up the origin of the Absorbing man and lays the groundwork for the open hostility of the Loki/Thor conflict. Odin realizes that their animosity with each other has to be dealt with. As for the fight with Creel, I enjoyed the display of the absorbing power. But with many of these types of abilities, I like to see the writer outline some limitations. It seems that Creel can absorb any element or power. He gets struck by a glass and absorbs it, so I have to assume that he intentionally allowed himself to be turned into glass. Otherwise, he is subject to turning into elements against his will. Walking on the ground will turn him into concrete against his will, etc. He must have control over when he transforms. In the SA, there wasn't a learning curve to dealing with newfound powers. Characters got abilities and instantly were experts with them. Anyway, Thor uses his hammer at cyclotronic (?) speed to transform the elements that Creel has absorbed and turns him into helium. Man, why didn't he use this from the beginning? The hammer has the potential to become problematic. It's the ultimate deus ex machina for any difficult situation. Well, Maybe Hoosier X is right. Comics are dumb. Or I can default to the Slam_Bradley philosophy that comics are all unrealistic and not to worry about it too much. Interesting bits:
Thor and the other Avengers have official authority to take over a situation The flames that Thor hurls at Creel are absorbed creating a nice " Human torch" visual. So Thor can wipe your memory ? Handkerchiefs are a thing of the past Miscellaneous items from my actual Copy-
I took pics of the house ads in the book. Things like this is what makes me want to acquire the actual books.

I too will no longer buy the really thick ones as they are too cumbersome for my tastes.
You're the 4th person to say this ( Including me). I wonder if sales will ever dictate the elimination of oversized omnibi ?

I'm about halfway through the episode and finding myself glad I wasn't a participant because I would've been constantly fighting the urge to throttle George. But Jeff and Rob are doing a fine job of defending Roy's status as one of Marvel's greatest EICs despite the handicaps Stan and Cadence imposed on him so I'm content just to listen. But I did want to take a moment to dispel a myth I heard George repeat: Wally Wood did NOT draw all the women in The Cat nude because he was the inker, not the penciller. I wish people would put this tired old story out of its misery.
Cei-U! And now, back to the podcast!
Don’t hate me because i’m beautiful.

It might be also that he has a limited amount of work produced. Personally, I feel that Frank Cho and Adam Hughes are on par with Stevens work.

I think I hate this chatGPT. We are more knowledgeable than it is. Roy Thomas might have helped to create Wolverine, but he doesn't have a writing credit for his first or second appearance. I recently heard him say in an interview that he should have written his first appearance to settle the issue.
