If you want a fictionalised account of the origin of her origin story I can recommend the film Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017)
Fictionalized is putting it mildly.........more like total fantasy. What makes it fantasy?

Can y'all help me? I want to read Wonder Woman's first appearances and some of her original stories. I want to see who she was created to be and not who she has since become. Is there an anthology out there I can get my hands on?

I'd like to introduce you to Wyvern. She is a superhero I made up for a role playing game i was in. I loved her so much (and it killed me when she died...twice) that I decided to create a full blown story for her. I think she would be someone worth reading about. So that being said, I am posting her backstory here...right to the point where she gets her powers. Let me know (and specific examples would be most helpful) what you think. If there are original superheroes or villians that you want me to put her up against in the ensuing plot lines (I have a year to cover from when her backstory ends to when she was introduced into the game) let me know that too! If you want to draw...God bless you! But here it is!
Background:
“Dead. They’re dead. How do you tell a four-year-old that her parents are dead? Nadia, Sweetheart…this is Mrs. Kemper. Mrs. Kemper is going to take you somewhere you can stay for a while. She is a nice lady. Mrs. Kemper, is she going to be staying with a family member?”
“Where are Mommy and Daddy?”
“We couldn’t find any living relatives. She is completely alone. We are taking her to a group home.”
“Mrs. Kemper, she is all yours.”
“But where are Mommy and Daddy?”
“Come along Nadia, Dear.”
“No! Where are Mommy and Daddy?”
“Now, don’t cause a scene Young Lady! Let’s go this minute!”
“MOMMY! DADDY! Where are Mommy and Daddy? I WANT MY MOMMY AND DADDY! Put me down! MOMMY! DADDY!” …
4 YEARS LATER
“Her name is Nadia. Look at that pretty face! You’ll have to pay more for the gingers. You’ll have her for an hour. No marks on her face or I’ll have to charge you for it.”
“Come here pretty, little girl. Such a pretty girl. I just want to get to know you better.”
“Ye-es, Sir. Right away Sir.”
3 YEARS LATER
“One of those superhero types found her in a storm ditch by the Thames. Looks like someone near beat her to death. Fractured leg. Broken collar bone. Shattered left arm. Some crushing around her eye socket. Dislocated shoulder. It’s a wonder she is even alive at this point.”
“But she is just a child! She’s hardly older than a baby! Her parents must be worried sick about her!”
“No one has alerted the police to a missing girl fitting her description. The medical team has found evidence of repeated physical and sexual abuse. She’s hardly more than a street rat. She’s lucky she was found before she washed into the Thames, otherwise she would be just another body right now, if they ever found her at all.”
“So what happens to her now?”
“Social Services has been notified. They will be along after she has a chance to recover a bit. If she doesn’t have a family then most likely she is going to a group home.”
“What if I took her?”
“Dr. Maxwell, she is your first street urchin, isn’t she? You have only been at hospital for a few weeks. You can’t save them all. You can’t adopt every child who is admitted.”
“Dr. Landsing, I know that. But I can at least save this one! Hasn’t she been through enough? Under that mop of tangles and all that mud and bruising is a little girl. A person. A HUMAN BEING! You are a doctor. How can you just forget that?”
“Fine, Dr. Maxwell. I will recommend Social Services place her in your care. But remember, I warned you.”
3 YEARS LATER
“Dr. Maxwell, I’ve asked Nadia to wait outside. I think it is time to discuss her options.”
“Headmaster Lempke, we both know she is at genius level, possibly beyond that. She finished her primary education and was valedictorian. Maybe she should be allowed to make her own decisions at this point.”
“Dr. Maxwell, when you brought her the Wycombe Abbey School, she hadn’t even a year of schooling as far as we could tell. She basically completed 12 years of schooling in three years! She is unprecedented.”
“Not bad for a…what did you call her when she first arrived? A guttersnipe ready for the rubbish heap?”
“I was mistaken. I never should have said that…”
“Damn right you never should have said it! But she stayed because Headmistress Kellerman took her under her wing and treated her with the respect and dignity she needed and deserved. You were just a professor at the time…succeeding to the Headmaster position and inheriting the most remarkable mind in an age! You should be out there right now begging her forgiveness.”
“Dr. Maxwell, there is a school in the United States for gifted youngsters. Their Professor Xavier has contacted me a number of times inquiring about her. He wants your permission to run some tests…”
“Which that trumped-up pikey pillock will never get! Nadia will make her own decisions about where she goes next.”
“You are wasting her potential! She could go anywhere! She could do anything! She just needs the proper education!”
“Headmaster Lempke, she will do as she pleases. At this point, you have no more say in her education.”
3 YEARS LATER
“Valedictorian again? At Oxford University? Nadia, Darling! You are amazing! Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it.”
“Thank you Mother. It may have just been too easy. I should have pushed myself harder! I decided to go to University College London’s graduate program. I will have full and completely unrestricted access to the labs at all times and a grant for my study! Mother, I can continue my work on the “X” Gene. I am so close to my breakthrough. I will be able to give anyone superpowers!”
“Nadia, you have been working on this “X” Gene for years. You need to let it go. You could be curing cancer…the common cold…anything. This “X” Gene is taking you away from all that.”
“Mother, a metahuman saved me! A human didn’t and quite possibly couldn’t. If there were more metas, more people, children, could be saved from death! I am helping humanity with this study! I want everyone to have that chance!”
4 YEARS LATER
“Reginald, pass me the injection gun…”
“No!”
“Reginald!”
“I’m not going to let you kill yourself. I’m certainly not going to be party to it.”
“Reginald, hand me the gun! I have been working on this formula for years. Since before I was an undergrad! This will change the world! I can’t get clearance for human trials. So this is the only way! Give me the injection gun!”
“No.”
“REGINALD!”
“I’m not going to be a part of your suicide.”
“Then leave.”
“Fine. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“Good day, Sir!”
“NADIA!”
“I said, ‘Good day!’”
“Get that away from your arm! No! Nadia! Don’t do it! No! Nadia? Nadia! Wake-up! Don’t close your eyes! Stay with me! Stay with me! No! Nadia! Wake-up! SOMEONE CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE! Wake-up, Nadia! Please…”
Upon waking, Nadia was alone on the floor in her lab. Her skin was hot. It burned as if it were on fire. Then she saw it…balls of flame resting in the palms of her hands. She screamed as she lunged to her feet. She thrust her burning hands under cold water at the sink. The flames scorched and burned her. The water felt as if her skin was melting off! The flames fizzled out and large, puss-filled blisters rose up on her hands. Terrified, she passed out.
Sometime later Reginald was staring down at her face. She was strapped to a gurney inside an ambulance…
1 YEAR LATER…

I found it very difficult to hate someone once you know something like how they regularly watch Svengoolie. Hey...even superheroes put their capes on one shoulder at a time!

A lot of you know my comic books history from the podcast I got to do! Thank you soooo much for that! I liked them and then grew out of the quickly. Most of my love had been inspired by a Bolland print of Wonder Woman my grandfather had given me for a birthday gift when I was 12. (I still wish to this day I had that print!) We had something called the "Trench Coat Club" in my school. I know Columbine stole that and made it into something dark and sinister, but we were a group of role-playing, comic book reading, fantasy and sci-fi nerds. We accepted everyone although we liked to pretend we were non-conformists...we tended to conform to each other. But we accepted everyone. Occasionally, a pretty girl would show up to the club after school. She would be worshipped as a goddess and would eat it up. Inevitably one of the nerds would wind up with a broken heart and the group would spend a weekend in a loft role-playing and reading comics to cheer them up. That was high school.
Fast forward to many, many, many years later and my life wasn't doing so great. I turned to role-playing as a salve. But the role-playing was superheroes. Because of this, I went back to the old and dusty comic books and added to them. Those role-playing nerds were the balm my soul needed. Those comic books (and a huge thanks to Shaxper for being one of them) were the ointment my heart yearned for to heal. Then I realized...although I probably had always known it...comic book nerds and role-playing geeks are the greatest people on the planet. We are creative. We are smart. We are industrious (figuring out how to make a draw bridge collapse when an elaborately painted figurine crosses it with nothing more than a mountain dew bottle and some pencils being a case in point). But we are more than that. Most rpg players and comic book nerds have hearts the size on Montana. We know what being on the outside is like and do our best to bring others in from the cold. You have all done that for me here! You are ALL my superheores! I love each and everyone of you. You have supported me. You have listened to my rants...indulged my weird questions...and supported my off requests. You all have hearts of gold...no platinum...no...PALLADIUM!!! You are the best of the best. A secret treasure trove of gems the world at large doesn't know about. But when someone ventures into your cave and finds you hidden behind the stone and beneath the dragon...when they see you for who you really are...they see they have something that is more precious than all the money in the world. They see they have someone who knows how to give themselves 100%. Someone who loves with all they have and shares their love with anyone who is willing to accept it. The world sees us as weird. They see us as strange. They can even see us to be feared. But they are also drawn to us for the acceptance we give them.
You are all amazing and wonderful people. I am blessed to know you!

Okay...so once again I am coming to my comic friends...
My pastor every couple of years does sermons based on comic book characters...the whole gambit (lol) of them. I am putting them together into an anthology for the youth in the church as a Bible study. I was wondering...if I posted some of the characters...who might be willing to write a synopsis of a character for me to use as the intro to the character? I just don't know enough about these characters to do them justice. Anyone interested?

I remember thinking it odd as a kid that Supergirl and Ms. Marvel had that same last name. I mean it wasn't like Smith or Jones, I did not know of Rebecca at the time, so it seemed unique to me. Didn't know of Rebecca? Me?

...Hey all! Oh, how I have missed you all quite terribly! At my church, my pastor does a sermon every year with a series called Superhero Parables and it had me thinking about you! Then it gets me thinking...I went to see the new Captain Marvel movie a bit ago. I was hesitant that they would do a bad job, but was quite surprised at how well I thought they did. In your opinions...how do you think they did in the movie vs. the comic books? Was it cannon? Do you think they did her justice?
ALSO...I saw an interview with Mr. Krueger from Marvel. He was saying that in the Batman series...Alfred is the true hero of the story. Without him, Batman couldn't do what he does. Batman is in the city..in the businesses...in the community. Alfred patches him up. Supports him. Encourages him. Scolds him. Alfred is the hero maker. What is your thoughts about this?
I also wanted to thank the two wonderful men (you know who you are) who nominated me the the new member award! Life getting in the way of my fun kept me away for quite some time but I am happy to be back and seeing that in my messages made me smile from ear to ear. You are my comic book nerd buddies and some of the best people I know! XOXO to all of you!
