Aw, I wanted that one TBH, I don't see it ending any other way, and I think this particular end would complicate Usagi further down the line. I understand it. But seeing this made me long for what could have been.

When he meets Katsuichi-sensei again in "Circles", I think... they mention Shunji's brother, who had left to hone his skills. Earlier on, before the duel in, well, "The Duel", the reigning champion mentions that he had defeated someone who used the same techniques as Usagi, but not so well. Later, we find out it was Shunji's brother, who was killed by that same samurai. I'd completely missed this. Thanks much for catching it! My pleasure! Shunji's brother was named Shunichi, which makes me think he was the oldest brother. Regarding the conversation, it was with Isao on "Crows pt. 1".

Cool list.
Isn't she a cat version of Tomoe Gozen?

Changing topic, early in this story Usagi says he was one of only three that Katsuichi taught. I don't believe he's including Shunji and Jotaro there, I assumed he was. I don't believe so. So for me the three graduates are Usagi, Shunji and Shunji's brother, who was named in the series. I'd have to check his name at home. However, when the sensei was talking to that good friend of his (the one that took over the school), I thought he was implying that he had other students before Usagi.

This was a fun little strip, almost like if Stan had done a newspaper Usagi strip. I'd gladly subscribe to said newspaper

Okay, what did I just read here?
I found this to be such a good story. Well crafted, not obvious, well executed plot twists, enemies were a credible threat, and the ending... ah, the ending!
I did a golf clap after reading it. Congratulations, sensei!

Your typical Kitsuné story: self-contained, light, and lots of fun

The animation is great in that cartoon, but man was Usagi's voice jarring! It's hard to describe how I feel Usagi's voice should sound when I read it, but it's definitely a lot softer than what it was in that clip. BTW, what's your favourite Usagi cartoon voice? 1987, 2003 or 2012 TMNT? I prefer 2003, but 2012 is also very good.

I like this one a lot. Very clever twist ending, and I thought it was subtle.

She's a cat on the cover and a rabbit inside? Or did Usagi have prior experience with escorting grumpy old ladies?

I love the panel showing Dr Takenoko's workshop. The Nilson and Hermy wind-up toys are cool, and a neat cameo. Huh. Nice catch. I should really look into Nilson and Hermy. Seems like a fun comic. This was a fun little story, I have to ask tough, is this the same doctor who develops the steam turtle and Usagi Gundam in Senso? Yep, the very same Takenoko-sensei.
