Byrne had a great sense of humor and got on the then "Bad Grrl" phase with Shulkie. I love his run on this character...

Yeah, but do these comics have any redeeming value or is it just w**king material? These are a fun homage to the old jungle adventure, featuring lots of fights between a good-looking, fur-bikini clad heroine and her loyal giant ape and dinosaurs. And there is some interesting interplay between Miriam and the people of the time-displaced town of Marshville, which shows the trials of ordinary people suddenly being trapped in a primeval world. So definitely more than w**k material. The pin-up books, on the other hand... What he said....

While I did like Byrne's writing on the series and liked a lot of what he did humorously admiting at times that they were playing on She Hulk's sex appeal, but artistically I've never found anything sexy about Byrne's women. The only (and admittedly one of the first Sensational She Hulk comics I bought) cover I can remember vividly that I thought was sexy was #18, even though I don't think credit was given in the book to the artist.

... but artistically I've never found anything sexy about Byrne's women. I more or less agree, with the one surprising (to me) exception of Red Sonja in that Marvel Team-Up issue. Maybe the only time I found either Byrne's artwork or the character sexy - with apologies to Frank Thorne.

I've bought some Cavewoman for the covers... On this note I will say, while I don't generally care about comic book cheesecake, I do appreciate artists who can draw breasts that look real and not like a bad 90's porn star boob job (especially when drawing larger breasts).

While I can't tell just from the cover, it does remind me of Sim's Red Sophia artistically ... and I do think Sim has a talent for sexy women. Well at least later in the series .. with Gerhard's help or course. Speaking of Marvel Team Up, not so much on the covers but #81 (and the first part of the story, which I forget what issue and title) Mike Vosburg made Satana all kinds of sexy to me. I wouldn't mind some original art from that book.

I have no problem with strong women mentally, emotionally or even physically. But in strictly in being sexually attractive I've never gone for "buff" gals. I don't mind fit and healthy gals but muscular like those (especially Samuree) not gonna float my boat. I'll take Budd's Cavewoman or Cho's Shanna though.

I love me some Jay Scott Pike comics and this is darn sexy... I've never seen that cover before. And I agree! It also reminded me of this cover. Not that it's sexy so much, as I believe it's the same character. A sad story though, but one of my two favorites for the writer's run.
