The subject of this week, really got me to thinking about crossovers. I am not a Superman reader, so most anything I have of his is crossovers (or Elsewords), which got me to wondering, whose really selling the comic in these instances? Superman/Aliens series? I bought it for Aliens. Superman/Batman? Batman. Superman vs Predator? Predator ... etc. So personally I may not have a candidate for this week. But it just got me wondering in some of these crossover cases, how many sold for Superman and how many sold for the other character? Just thinking out loud. I think any time Superman appears in the first issue of a new series, it can be safe to assume that it is a gimmick to draw in readers in the hope that they will like what they see and decide to stick around (although these days DC is probably more likely to use Batman).

Also known as Ironic Comics #1... A I was waiting for this cover to appear. it looks like a Nick Cardy Superman figure with a Anderson face.

That's the credit the GCD gives.

I'll admit that as a youngster, I was disappointed that Superman didn't appear in the book.

Great topic! Here's my entry. Like the Teen Titans cover I posted last week, this one has Superman doing his supercilious thing. And doesn't it look like Infantino may have lifted Cardy's Supes from that TT cover?

Really hard to pick just one, but I will go with mrp. We Europeans love Jerry Lewis.

It came down to 2 that were very close. I loved MechaGodzilla and the "I love Lucy " cover but I had to choose jodoc because Superman's suit is like a countries flag. It's a beacon. Really nice choices all around this week.

It is a very tough vote - I have to go with MRP with his Jerry Lewis Cover.

Gonna go with Paradox. It's hard to beat the combo of Superman, Starro and Captain Carrot.

Rob Allen for the earliest, and what appears to be the most blatantly pointless appearance.

Lots of great covers--I am going with Action Ace. I really like that the "S" insignia is not featured, and that the identification is based on colors and boot design.
