Just watched the Gareth Edwards' Godzilla film on HBO for the first time and really enjoyed it. I thought they absolutely did it justice. The casting is pretty good and Bryan Cranston acts his ass off. While I didn't actually care much about the characters all the action was epic especially the kaiju fights. They also lay some interesting groundwork for potential sequels. I'm really looking forward to the sequel especially if Mothra is involved. I think my only complaint was that Cranston shouldn't have died as his character was much more interesting than his son.

I was thinking about that for several minutes and I totally agree with you - that's my biggest beef about the Godzilla movie that came out in 2014.

His son was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson who is Quicksilver in the new Avengers movie. His wife in Godzilla was portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen. She will be Scarlet Witch in the new Avengers movie.

Adding to what guardian said ... I hope they play or have a better script as brother/sister better than husband/wife. I think that part was a bit flat and typical. Not to dig on the actor and actress. That could have been the fault of a flat script in that area. It just seemed really bland. I think his best acting as his character was looking after the Asian boy that got separated from his parents on the train.

I read this today. There's not a line of dialogue in the entire issue but I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to more.

I have to say, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting something like Age of Reptiles...but with Godzilla but this didn't have anything approaching that level of narrative craft, none of the action sequences had any punch to them because they felt so random and lacked any characterization what so ever. What could have been the best Godzilla comic conceptually seemed pretty hollow to me.

Godzilla in Hell #2 came out yesterday and was a bit different then the previous issue. Apparently each issue will be written and drawn by a different artist. While issue #1 had no dialogue and art that reminded me of a horror manga this issue had narration and was done in this really cool hand painted style. It also had apearances from Rodan, Anguirus, Varan and King Ghidorah.

His animated tail weirds me out though. For a minute I thought Manda was back.

Has anyone watched Shin Godzilla? The trailer looks like it might be interesting and I'm glad to see Toho making Godzilla films again.
