Its being reported this evening that former MLB player Jose Canseco, while cleaning his gun, accidentally discharged a bullet that sliced his middle finger off. The finger flew into the air, bounced off Canseco's head and went over the fence for a home run

Luckily, living in Pittsburgh... I've never seen this phrase before Pittsburgh's not perfect, but it could be worse, like living in New York.

Just got back after celebrating like mad. I feel numb. Giants are World Champs!!!
That was one of the greatest games I've ever seen. I just about had a heart attack when our outfielders couldn't field the ball in the 9th with 2 outs, almost giving up an infield HR. But history was witnessed as MadBum closed out a legendary WS performance. Unforgettable.
I really feel for the Royals and their fans though. Class team and fanbase, and I have no doubt they will be a great team in the years to come.
Here's to an even year Dynasty!

It is nice of you to recognize the Royals and their fans - because I have many friends live in Kansas City and I was hoping for them to win this World Series! I find it very interesting to see the Giants winning in 2010, 2012, and now 2014. An Even Year Dynasty! as you pointed out earlier! Anyway, Congratulations bronzeagebrian!

Rick Renteria, the Chicago Cubs would like to present you with some lovely parting gifts. So how long until the Cubs announce Joe Maddon as their new manager? 3...2...1... Looks like you were right, Richard! Good for Maddon for getting out of the majors' worst market. But we'll see how long the "charming nerd" act takes him when he has both money and players.

I know we might seem a little spoiled in winning 3 titles in 5 years, but this was our last chance at a dynasty. The Panda will likely be with another team next year, and it just gets that much harder to get back. More than anything, watching Bumgarner pitch was out of this world. Not everyday you see a pitcher like that come around, and his WS performance was truly special. I'll never forget this one! Nothing like a Finnerty's NYC World Series reaction vid! My kind of party:

Would've been neat to see KC win it; as I may have mentioned previoulsy, they were one of my favorite teams back in the '70s, especially Amos Otis (whom I liked in part because he always caught fly balls one-handed, as did I ... Rusty Staub did the same, IIRC, but he was already a favorite because his first name is Daniel) & Hal McRae.
That said, as I know I've also mentioned, Travis Jackson, my first cousin twice removed or something like that (his grandfather & my great-grandfather were brothers, I think), whom I met when I was a kid when he lived about 18 miles away in his hometown of Waldo, was the NY Giants' SS from 1922-1936, so yet another SF title doesn't exactly leave me distraught.
