Koji time in Boston extended for 2 more years-the Sox signed Uehara to a 2 year $18 million contract on the first day of free agency. It's a decent signing, good money for a back end guy even if he is not THE CLOSER next year or the year after, but I think/hope he still has something in his tank.
On another note, one of my favorite former Sox is hanging them up, the Youkdog, Kevin Youklis announced his retirement after playing a year in Japan. He was the kind of hardnosed grind it out kind of players I liked, and always seemed to come up big in a Sox uniform. Best wishes in your next career Youk!

I'm a big Oklahoma City Thunder fan - and now both Superstars - Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are out with injuries that takes 4-6 weeks to heal and with Jeremy Lamb, Anthony Morrow, and 1 other player out - they are going to have a horrible year and might not make the playoffs this year.
I hope that Serge Ibaka is not next!

Yeah, that's an incredibly tough break for the Thunder. Westbrook kept the Thunder ahead of my Blazers for 3 quarters the other night.

I went to the SF Giants parade. I also went to the one in 2012. At that time though I was living in San Francisco. Now I'm in Redwood City. So I had to take the train and then BART. I had a much better view, but the weather was a little annoying to deal with. The thing that really soured the experience was the amount of people that were completely uncivilized and just used the event as an excuse to run buckwild. Folks that probably couldn't name a single person on the team, but are apparently "fans". I don't mind casual fandom, but don't use the parade as a reason to live above the law. You had folks completely drunk in public shouting, getting lost in their own weed haze, and just being passive aggressive in general. I was with two friends, one who was a girl. I was a tad concerned about her safety at times just because last year another female friend of mine was grouped by a couple of young punks. Going back was a nightmare too. The trains were completely overcrowded and delayed for an indefinite amount of time. I'm surprised I'm still not at the station waiting. It was great to see the players though. Didn't stay to for the speeches at Civic Center because there was no way we could get close. Just figured I'd watch them at home when I get back. Well here are some photos from the event. I wish I was in one of those start up companies that got a grew view from their own office. I think I'll watch the next one, if there is one, from home. Unless it's the 49ers. Romo livin it up. Duck saying hi. Here is 49ers beat reporter Matt Maiocco being driven around in a carriage by Batman. Headmaster Baer and his kinfolk. Busta Bust. The "Say Hey Kid". Jake Peavy. Barry Bonds. The Cainsaw. Sabean. BIG TIME TIMMY JIM along with Lopez. Vogey. Machi was on the same bus, but I didn't care to take a photo. Morse/Thor. Panda. The Myth. The Legend. The World Series MVP. Madison Bumgarner. Previous two championships. The maestro Bruce Bochy with the new hardware.

The question is-will Peavy want to buy one of those buses like he bought the Duck Boat the Sox paraded in last year when they won? -M

Much to the surprise of no one, it looks like A-Rod did indeed use HGH and other PEDs and confessed as much to the DEA under oath in meetings with them earlier this year.... ESPN articleThe story was broken by the Miami Herald. -M

Selig: I'm shocked, SHOCKED that players are using drugs to hit more home runs.
owners/fans/media/flunkies: here's your major increase in baseball interest
Selig: Yes, thank you very much.

So I guess mentioning the All Blacks, who played the US national team in Chicago last week, is kinda a waste of time here huh At least they'll play the Poms this weekend, so shouild be in line for another win... Hey to the Oklahoma fan above, as a Kiwi making it in the US, Steven Adams gets huge Press here, but from your perspective, over there and all, is he going ok? or is he just another promising rookie ?

Yeah, I'm a big rugby fan. It's probably the sport I most enjoy watching and has been the last several years.
As with most Canadians, hockey is always number 1 with me, in a way, but my favourite era for hockey was the 70s, while I enjoy watching the current brand of rugby as much as or more than at any time since I first became a fan back in the early 90s.
They didn't show the All-Blacks/Eagles match on the channel we get our rugby on here but I managed to find an online version that I haven't watched yet. Not sure how much good these mismatches do to promote the game in places like North America where rugby isn't a major pro sport, to be honest.
