Mr. Jefferson's University had a great basketball win today, keeping it together and coming back after an uncharacteristically large second-half deficit. The squad may remain undefeated and ranked #2 the entire season, which is crazy given Kentucky's easy SEC schedule. Big Duke game coming up Saturday.

Just as an FYI, the NFL shop has removed those photos of Lynch from sale and the NFL released a statement that it should never have been listed as NFL policy is images of any play that results in a fine are not to be sold. ESPN article-M

JOSH GORDON Below is from ESPN.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has failed another drug test and now will be subject to a one-year suspension, according to league sources.
Gordon tested positive for alcohol, a source said, confirming a report by Pro Football Talk. The failed test is the latest in a long line of setbacks for Gordon, whose future in Cleveland and the NFL now will be in question.

What's next, caffeine tests? Is the NFL under Mormon sharia law now?

What's next, caffeine tests? Is the NFL under Mormon sharia law now? He was in substance abuse counseling and part of his reinstatement agreement was that he remain clean and sober and successfully complete the program, which required he be tested on a regular basis. It's SOP for most rehab/counseling/probation agreements, and was a condition of his eligibility to play in the league that he agreed to according to the terms of the CBA. He chose to violate it. It's on him, not the league. It's not a Draconian method, but standard practice in treatment of substance abuse. But again, people will bring their own biases into it because the NFL is always the villain (and in many cases they are, but Josh Gordon's enemy here is Josh Gordon, not the NFL). -M

Josh Gordon could have gotten the alcohol in his system from standing too close to Johnny Manziel.

Patriots caught cheating again. Will Goodell do anything about it? Again? So far no proof. They were caught filming signals years ago, paid the price and continued their excellence. What other examples of cheating can you think of? And don't give me the "illegal formations" bushwa from a Ravens coach who made himself a laughing-stock of every football coach in America right down to the pee-wee level with his whining. Same guy who all but sent Belichick flowers and chocolate while thanking and praising him in his Pro Bowl interviews b/c he knows that other coaches are no doubt pissed that he planted the idea to check a football in his former assistant Chuck Pagano's ear. Lucky for us old "Faith and Family" Harbaugh, who lionized the execrable Ray Lewis, is upholding the integrity of the NFL in the face of such ignoble behavior. And Bountygate is cheating, in that is a violation of the spirit of the rules of the game, as is tripping a player from the sideline, because the offending coach was seeking an unfair advantage. As usual in cases like this, the SS Self-Righteous sets sail with a full crew of hypocrites and blowhards and a cargo of pecksniffery.

Remind me not to have you be on a jury.

Oh, THAT settles it. I loved his comment myself, but really? Really? Sherman's your go-to authority on the guilt or innocence of the Patriots?

The NFL was investigating a New England locker room attendant for tampering with the footballs in footage the Patriots turned over. Evidently, he was just using the bathroom for 90 seconds. So I suppose they are going to have to look elsewhere for evidence. The thing is, it certainly seems as though somebody within the Patriots organization is guilty in regards to this, but it doesn't appear the NFL has any clue whatsoever about who did it or how. That may certainly complicate punishing the Patriots or even declaring them guilty. I mean I'm a Patriots fan, I'll admit that almost assuredly somebody within the organization is guilty, but they will need to prove who and how, which may take a long time at this point. Robert Kraft said yesterday that if the NFL rules the Patriots innocent, he wants an apology. Somehow I don't really see either of those things happening. Also, this is an unconfirmed report, but it would make sense in my opinion and is probably more likely than somebody from the Patriots sneaking off with the footballs after they had been approved and deflating them. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/report-nfl-approved-under-inflated-balls-from-patriots/ar-AA8DMF1That is what I always though what happened. Under-inflated balls turned over to the officials who then failed to properly identify that they were under inflated. I'll tell you what though... talking about under inflated balls spares all of us on a comics message board from a few days of Giant-Size Man Thing jokes. Did I just make one?
