I posting in this thread so I don't get fined. I loved that, I think the whole media day thing is a joke and the fact that the players have to be there or face fines is just dumb.

I posting in this thread so I don't get fined. However, should you have posted in a font color not matching that of your fellow posters and approved by the CCF central office, you would have been suspended and fined. No gold colored font for you when the rest of the posters are fine using black. We cannot allow your posts to stand out or be different and draw attention to you rather than our brand. Thank you, CCF central offices....

As someone who appreciates privacy when I want it, I don't blame NFL players and coaches who are on the more private side for not wanting to talk to the media. I wouldn't really want to a lot of the time, I'm sure. While I get the desire for privacy, part of the job you are getting paid millions of dollars to do is to be a public figure and represent your team (i.e. the people paying you millions of dollars). I don't get to pick and choose which parts of my job I want to do or not do based on whether I like them or not, and if I don't do part of my job I can get fired or lose part of my pay...it's what having a job is all about whether the job is being a part of a football team, teaching at a school, or being part of a sales team. If you don't want to do parts of the job, don't take the job... -M

I can see your point. Yet at the same time few people are going to like 100% of their job. But still, overall I can see your point. Just because you don't like part of your job doesn't mean you don't have to do it, or that there aren't consequences if you don't do it though, or that you are a noble hero standing up to the man if you don't do it. -M

Not like being a millionaire NFL player would necessarily fall into the category of having to take a job, but just saying. If there are aspects of a job I don't like I may still have to take the job. Or I may take it because I like 75% of my duties but it's not a perfect fit. Right, but how many people have the luxury of telling their boss I am not going to do this part of the job because I don't like it and still get to keep that job... sure grumble, but show up and do your job, doing so doesn't make you a folk hero....it makes you an employee like every other employee getting paid to do a job. -M

If the league wants the players to be engaged for this event they need it to be a serious one.

I thought that Marshawn Lynch thing was idiotic. With the amount of effort he put into that, he could have just answered the questions.

Players get fined every season for wearing the wrong thing and celebrating or taunting.

I thought that Marshawn Lynch thing was idiotic. With the amount of effort he put into that, he could have just answered the questions. Mind you, I don't care a thing about the NFL and wouldn't lose a moment's sleep if the league suddenly went out of business, so I am looking at this from what pretty much amounts to an outsider's POV. That said, I loved what Marshawn Lynch did yesterday. The NFL is overbearing in its demand for uniformity and control, down to the color of hair bands guys with long hair can use or what they can write on their shoes. Lynch doesn't like talking to the media, so the NFL threatens him with a $500,000 fine (Let that sink in. He would have been fined half a million dollars for not going through their little dog and pony show, but a guy who violates the substance abuse policy gets a couple of games off and maybe a fine of $100K, depending on his salary), and Lynch does what he was told to do. The NFL didn't specify that he had to play nice or answer the questions in a manner they would like but rather that he show up to the spectacle, which he did, and he stuck it back in their face.
