Has anyone read The Walking Dead # 127? It was surprisingly great! Without spoiling anything, this is where I was hoping they would go a few years ago before the whole Negan business. Great new direction! It was a decent, but not great issue. Since it's the first issue after a major storyline, I didn't expect it to be full of action or crazy plot developments, but I at least expected them to be doing more set up for stories further down the line, or introducing some sort of conflict. Instead it felt more like a "day in the life of Rick Grimes" Nonetheless it was still entertaining. The series needs quieter issues now and then.

I guess the first issue of that new Ghost Rider series launched at 30K copies. Marvel's cut-off is around 20K. I doubt it'll last a year.
I'm an old curmudgeon in training, cause I hate the ugly face on him enough that is enough by itself for me to not buy it.

Meanwhile I'm rather disappointed that it's doing so badly. I'm giving Marvel a lot of credit here for trying new things with a lot of these new series.

I have liked a lot of what I have seen from this second wave of All New Marvel Now. I've sampled Robinson's Invaders and F4 and they were alright, Kaare Andrews Iron Fist, which is excellent, Blackmon's Elektra which looks very promising based on the first issue, Ellis' Moon Knight, which is typical Ellis-and that's a good thing for me, Slott and Allred's Silver Surfer has been fun, and just picked up the first issue of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu today but haven't read it yet. The relaunched Daredevil continues to chug along with Waid and Samnee bringing their A-game. A friend gave me their digital code and I sampled Black Widow #1 as well, and liked it, but it was a superquick read, so it's one I will likely look at the trade to read any more. A few others look interesting, but quick sell outs have kept me form sampling them yet-Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider, and Loki, Agent of Asgard chief among them, so I will take a look at the first trades on those to see what I think. The key thing for me is that each book has its own identity and voice, it feels much less homogenized than Marvel has for a while, and for me, that's a good thing. Ales Kot's Secret Avengers looks interesting too, and this cover caught my eye today... so not typical Marvel House style and that's refreshing. I may have to give this series a look too.

Kot's Secret Avengers seems more related to Superior Foes and Hawkeye in artstyle and storytelling than previous Secret Avengers titles.

I'm an old curmudgeon in training, cause I hate the ugly face on him enough that is enough by itself for me to not buy it. Most of these new Marvel books won't last a year, primarily because almost the entire fanbase is on the verge of becoming old curmudgeons. They have to realize that they're not drawing in new fans to their books among kids and teens, who love the movies because they are big, noisy, and cool to be seen at, but that lugging around comic books is the height of nerdiness. Some of us older fans may be drawn to certain characters because of long-standing love for them (for me, it's Moon Knight, although Ellis working on it doesn't hurt); however, a good friend of mine loves Ghost Rider but won't touch this new series with a ten-foot pole because, as he put it, "this isn't Ghost Rider, not the real one at least." That's what Marvel is up against. The older fans want what's comfortable and familiar, and the kids/teens don't want to read about the characters, they want to watch them on the small and big screens.

Ms. Marvel and Loki are both excellent.. but be warned both are targeted at a teen(Ms. Marvel)/Hipster(Loki) type crowd, so if that sort of think aggravates you, you might not like it.
I agree that it's unlikely this wave of titles will be around next year at this time... In fact, even X-Factor and Wolverine and the X-Men might be gone... I think Marvel has to either lower their sales expectations on lower tier titles, drop the price, or just forget it. Charging $3.99 for B and C list characters for 22 pages just isn't viable, IMO.

After 12 issues of All-Out War, the last thing I wanted was more conflict and tension. Rather than just a random "day in the life of," it was a vehicle to show the new status quo and what had happened in 2 years. Plus, they did plant seeds for future conflict. The scene where Rick talks to Magna's group was very reminiscent of the scene when Rick's group first came to...Alexander? I forget his name. Also, the last scene with Carl? Plenty of future trouble. This was a setting issue, and I thought it was just what the doctor ordered at this point in time. To each his own, of course.

Stray Bullets: The Killers #3 Definitely the best book of the week. I've been a Lapham fan since his Warriors of Plasm days. When he created Stray Bullets back in 1995, I fell in love with it. When he came back and finished the original run and launched the new series, The Killers, he didn't miss a step. The stories are so well paced, brilliantly written and just a smashing read.

I've been keeping up with All New Ghost Rider (and many other titles from the All New line up) and I've enjoyed it so far. Never read a Ghost Rider comic before. But I picked it up precisely because I'd heard it wasn't Johnny Blaze. It was something different. Will these new books not be here for long? Maybe not. But I feel these All New books are at least heading in the right direction by giving us different characters with a different look with a different voice. And at least in my area, it's working. The last time I was at a shop picking up my weeklies, there were more women in there than men buying comics. What were they looking for? Titles from the All New Marvel line up.

I am very open to new stuff, but Marvel started losing me and then really lost it after Claremont left. Granted, Claremont had been slipping for a while towards the end, but now as I type this I realize that was the beginning of the end. Spidey didn't feel right after Roger Stern left. Even David Michelenie, who I normally really like, didn't quite click for me, though JMS did. I loved Avengers until Bendis and since Disney / Marvel has jacked up the price and bloated the market / double shipping / titles we don't want or need / non-stop events / continuity inconsistencies / DC snarkiness, I've jumped ship and not looked back for the most part.
Lots of people say they're liking Marvel Now, and apparently Nu52 DC is leveling off, I'm exactly the opposite. Marvel is dead to be except for the Ultimate line and I still enjoy quite a few DC titles, including the Future's End weekly.

DCBlack Canary & Zatanna Bloodspell HC OGN (Paul Dini and a whole lot of fishnets-who can say no?) If this came in 2006 as intended with the art team originally announced, I would've bought it. With Joe Quinones on the artwork it's just meh instead of amazeballs.
