Pretty big week for me on the other hand:
Need to pick up Miracle Man and Moon Knight from last week and for this week:
Captain Marvel, Hickman's Avengers TPB 3 and She-Hulk #5. Also giving Wildfire a try.
And there's a new Spirou that came out a week ago plus some other European stuff.

When was it announced that the creative team on Moon Knight is leaving after #6, btw? I was quite disappointed when I saw that mentioned on a message board. Any idea who will take over after them?

Replacing Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey with Brian Wood and Greg Smallwood is like replacing Kate Upton and Scarlett Johansson in my fantasy threesome with the mom from "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and the owner of the dance studio on "Dance Moms". And my pull list shrinks by yet another one. Down to three at this point (Iron Man, Captain America, and All-New X-Factor, which is only hanging on because of PAD's involvement).

Greg Smallwood's work on Dream Thief from Dark Horse was phenomenal. Brian Wood is hit or miss for me, the only consistent hit from him lately is Star Wars (Northlanders too but that's not recent). His Marvel stuff never really resonated with me and his Conan was well-written but bad Conan. I will at least check out their first issue before deciding, but yeah Ellis finishing is sad. However, he said from the start he is not doing any work for hire long term right now, he has a story/set number of stories to tell with a character, he tells it/them, and he moves on. He has no interest in investing long term into a work for hire job. I think he is angling to do enough work to take the time off to do his next novel, so he is banging out the projects this year. That seemed to be his implication in his e-mail newsletter I subscribe to.
So while we get creator-owned Trees, we got short stints on Moon Knight, Supreme Blue Rose and the Project Super Powers thing he is doing for Dynamite, all short term set number of issues projects.

I find Brian Wood extremely underwhelming as well, though Ellis' Moon Knight hasn't done much for me either.
From today: Nightcrawler - overwritten in the mighty Claremont manner. I didn't expect much, but I'm done with this series. Original Sins - yet another one of those "fill in the edges" series that Marvel loves to do around event books, generally to try to spin off or boost some other property - nearly always awful and this not an exception. Mighty Avengers - lot of people raving about this, but I just don't get it the attraction; there hasn't been a single issue that I'd rate as even "good" yet. Uber & God is Dead were much like the last several issues of each. Losing interest in Walking Dead.
All-New X-Men, New Avengers and Avengers Undercover all OK. Pretty meh week, all told

Does Ellis ever write more than a handful of issues / one arc these days? i was tempted to try moonknight but then i thought oh ellis will be off this just as i'm getting into it.

He also previously ran this play during Global Frequency. At the very longest, this run might have lasted a year.

If I remember right he considers his Marvel work basically advertising for his other, creator owned stuff and doesn't want to over-commit to it. Although, honestly, I don't see that much difference in quality. Thunderbolts and Nextwave are as good as anything he's ever written, IMO.

Read 'Throne of Atlantis' today... pretty good, though not as good as the 1st two Aquaman arcs. New 52 is just so darn DARK.. even the happy endings are somber.

...Secret Avengers was kind of annoying. The plot for that book was Black Widow and Hawkeye do missions for Shield but were injected with a chemical that makes them forget the missions afterwards. Nice Luke Ross art, though. I got through about an issue and a half of that storyline before giving up. Page after page of talking heads. Bored the piss out of me.

Tell the story you have to tell and then let someone else have their say. normally i'd totally agree with that - but it seems a bit of a bait and switch by both the publisher and author with ellis. New book with Ellis!!... but you are going to get 4 or 6 issues then he's gone - it's cool but i do feel i miss out on his long form story telling and character development. The publisher uses his name to get some traction behind the book, he uses it to keep his name "big", but the reader only gets a few issues before a change.
