I flipped through the new issue at the LCS today and it did look really nice. Marvel has really surprised me with the quality of those Marvel Now!!! B and C lister character books. Though the latest issue of Black Widow was a bit disappointing. But Elektra, Moon Knight, Ms Marvel and She-Hulk have been really great and I hope BW will pick up again, too. Agreed. I'm enjoying this little surge of creative teams on this second and third stringers. I'm enjoying Black Widow, but I do agree this issue was a bit of a let down, but that's typical coming off an arc. I'd love to have Marvel to a slightly oversized hardcover of Elektra, just to showcase the artwork....stunning.

Agreed, I'm also really liking the new Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer. Didn't like Iron Fist, but it has its own style. Looking forward to Rocket Raccoon and Storm.

Some thoughts on recent books from the last couple of weeks: 1) Checked out Trees and The Wicked + The Divine from Image. Both books seem to have gotten glowing reviews, but I thought they were just OK. I liked the premise of Trees a lot more than the actual execution -- I didn't feel like they really introduced a main character for you to invest in. The Wicked + The Divine was interesting, if a little bit weird. I feel like I need another issue or two before I can decided whether I really like it or not. If you like the premise of Trees you might want to check out the Hugo Gernsback novel Ultimate World. The premise is nearly identical although the execution is different. 2) Really enjoying the creative team on Detective Comics. I'd say that the art is main selling point for the book -- but that art is really nice to look at, and definitely elevates the book overall. My favorite Batman artwork in the new 52. 3) Silver Surfer is a ton of fun. I'll admit that I haven't been a big Surfer fan in the past (I'm not big on the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe), but maybe that's why I'm able to enjoy this book. From what I've heard, this is a pretty different take on the Surfer, and one that might not sit well with a lot of traditionalists. After reading Silver Surfer #3 I'm convincing Dan Slott should be writing Doctor Who comics because that's essentially what this entire story arc has been.

So, apparently this week's issue of Iron Man (#28) is the last one for a while, with IM going into a Original Sin tie-in mini with Hulk. Although I am a huge IM fan and have almost an entire run from the beginning (I'm only missing #'s 43 and 48), this might be it for me. Marvel's idea of "seasons" for books, like they were TV shows, doesn't really appeal to me; each new writer that comes onto the title has to put their stamp on it, even if it means completely ignoring what previous writers did. One of the biggest things I liked about Marvel was the continuity, but that has been obliterated because they're constantly trying to grab new fans who could care less about what happened before. Whereas I couldn't care less about continuity, as long as the stories are good. Continuity should be there to serve the story, not the other way around.

Yeah, I'm pretty annoyed too. The 'Original Sins' story sounds terrible, and there's not else solicited yet... I'm wishfully thinking there's a big new creative team they're saving for San Diego. Also, I'm jealous of your entire run , though I'm made some good progress so far this year

Gimmick time... Deadpool 34...to get this 3d Lenticular cover of Dancing Deadpool, you have to order 52 copies. I usually don't give one arse about Deadpool but I like novelty crap like this so who knows...

I don't really do gimmick covers or Deadpool, but it's hilarious that you buy 52 copies to get it. Take that DC with your silly cover gimmick-driven September events!

Disney would probably have to give me a free fully operational Death Star for me to purchase a Deadpool comic. The first thing I'd do with the Death Star is vaporize the Deadpool comic.

Someone needs to explain the whole Deadpool thing to me. Last time I read a story with Deadpool in it, he was a soulless Rob Liefield creation. What happened since that time that he's now such a big deal?

What happened since that time that he's now such a big deal? In short, better writers got ahold of him and changed him from a generic super-ninja type into a comedic, black humor sort of character.

What happened since that time that he's now such a big deal? Mostly Joe Kelly happened (he's the only one that I figured managed to balance the comedy with actual character development), though a few other writers/artists managed to do interesting things with him as well.
