I don't like the tone of where Wonder Woman goes after Azz. Sounds very generic, but we'll see.

Just saw Life With Archie on the magazine stand at the local grocery store. I didn't buy it, I have one ordered already. Just cool to see it in a grocery store. Too bad next issue is the last. Hopefully they replace it with something else outside the traditional Archie stuff that will get that kind of distribution still. I also saw a magazine sized thick book, I think 300 pages, but it was somewhat expensive compared to the value of the thousand pagers at the bookstore. I do like the magazine size format though.

Read Savage Hulk #1, it's kind of a hybrid new/classic comic. Alan Davis does a continuity implant story that takes place just after the events of X-Men #66 featuring the aftermath f the X-Men and Hulk's meeting in that issue, If you redeem the digital code with that issue, you also get a free digtal copy of X-Men #66

I didn't like what I saw of Aaron's big Thor story at all. It felt very average to me, as far as the story was concerned, and I found his take on the mythology very unimaginative and completely at odds with the way I think that kind of material needs to be handled. Great art by Bianchi, though. Esad Ribic, actually. The story is just okay, but it's worth getting just for the art, I reckon. It's not a bad story, but again, worth getting just for the art.

Has anyone been reading the most recent Aquaman title? I've heard some good things about it and have a chance to pick up some of the earlier issues for $1 each, so if anyone has any feedback, it would certainly be appreciated. The Geoff Johns run is the first time I've been interested in the character and it's been one of my favorite books each month since. The Johns/ Reis issues are among the very best of the New 52 titles. The title has lost a step since they left, but it's still a good read. Jeff Parker is writing it now, right? I liked most of his Thunderbolts stuff, but once it shifted to Dark Avengers, I was pretty much turned off. I think Jeff Parker's stuff so far has been pretty good.

I think Jeff Parker is one of the most consistently underrated writers currently working in comics. I believe his runs on Agents of Atlas, Thunderbolts, Batman '66 and Aquaman warrant his talent being, at least, held in the same regard as that of Bendis, Geoff Johns and Scott Snyder. The latter three being what I'd consider, for lack of a better term, solid second-tier writers. First-tier being Ellis, Morrison, Moore and, based almost purely on Pax Romana and The Nightly News, Jonathan Hickman.

If you do like Jeff Parker, make sure you check out his recently completed Kings Watch mini (Mandrake, Flash Gordon & the Phantom) and his current Flash Gordon series from Dynamite. I like it better than anything else he's done except Agents of Atlas, which for me is his best work to date. His Red She-Hulk run that guest starred Machine Man that was part of the Marvel Now launch was also quite good and cut way too short, it was a fun book with great characters and lots of funky weird Marvel 70's Kirbyesque ideas.

Still haven't read Pax Romana, but The Nightly News was great.
Yeah, Parker is solid, though under-rated as you point out.
Welcome to the boards, December !

Everybody should be buying Parker's Flash Gordon, and then buy extra copies for the neighborhood kids. 'Cause if you won't, you're killing the industry.

Shopping list for the week of Wednesday July 9...
Dark Horse Star Wars #19 Usagi Yojimbo Color Special Artist One Shot
Dynamite Magnus 5? Turok 6?
I dropped both of these but I told the owner I would pick up the issues already ordered since I was the only pull on both of them, I think these are the last two I am committed to. Dynamite doesn't have FOC I don't believe so if he couldn't cancel them, I will get them. If they don't show up, I won't.
IDW Black Dynamite #3
Marvel Daredevil #5 Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #3 United States of Murder Inc. #3

Ok, I've been on the fence about buying this cause I'm not the biggest Flash Gordon fan, but Parker is solid, so I just bought the first 2 issues on sale @ Comixology. Report coming later.
