Your favourite oversize classic cover. By oversize I mean things like the back cover of Marvel Treasury Edition 6:
My original thought was to restrict the contest to MTE back covers only, because there are at least three outstanding examples I know of, including my own choice, plus several others that aren't far behind. But there were only 28 issues of the series and some of the covers were wrap-arounds, so I was afraid there might not be enough of a pool to choose from. To increase the number of choices, then, let's make both the back and front covers separately eligible when they are obviously two completely different images. A wrap-around will of course count as one choice only.
There's one ambiguous case that is neither a wrap-around nor two completely unrelated images (those familiar with the book will know immediately what I'm talking about): if it comes up, as I think it should and will, I'll bow to whatever the consensus of the participants seems to be, or make an arbitrary decision if no such consensus is apparent.
And to further expand the pool of eligible covers, let's include anything else that's equivalent to the Marvel Treasury Editions in size and format. I know DC did quite a few, not sure of anything else. I'd prefer to exclude things like the tabloid-size Kirby Collector from TwoMorrows, as they seem to be a different kind of animal, apart from the similar size.
Contest Rules
-Post one, and only one, classic cover that fits the theme of the contest.
-Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before Jan 1 2004 (this is a classics comic forum and we voted 10 years as the unofficial standard for being a classic).
-Covers must be posted before voting begins.
-Voting runs from 12 AM PST Tuesday until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
-Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most.

-The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends.
The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest.
-If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it, don't post disparaging remarks about it. If a cover is more recent that the Classic time frame, kindly point it out and the poster can choose an alternate before voting begins.
-Have fun!
