Wow, choosing my top five would be tough. My collection is too vast, and I love too much of it equally to choose. To honestly answer I'd need a month off work to slowly and thoroughly look thru everything and come up with a list. I'll put in a vacation request and see what the boss says.

My top 5 would not be the oldest or the most valuable in my collection, they would be the 5 stories I like best.
1)FANTASTIC FOUR 25 AND 26 2)FANTASTIC FOUR 48, 49, 50 3)FANTASTIC FOUR 111 - 116 4)AVENGERS 69, 70, 71 5)X-MEN 8 (Lots of Sentimental Value, One of the First Marvel Comics I Remember Buying at the Local Supermarket as a Kid)

I'm not going to go with cost on my top 5. I am going to go with what 5 classic comic books meant the most to me when I finally had it in my possession back as a kid:
Amazing Spider-Man #252 Daredevil #181 X-Men #137 Thor #337 X-Factor #1

1)My collection of every Kirby penciled comic story cover dated Jan 1965 to his death. This includes all his magazine and extra-comics works. The only thing I am missing is Kirby's Black Hole the movie comic strip work. I can live without it. 2)My complete ACME Novelty Library original run. 3)My run of Conan the Barbarian 1-24 (finally picked a #1 in VG condition for 20.00 last fall) 4)My Wally Wood Artist Edition 1st printing (I have a bunch of these monsters but this is still the best one) 5)I can't decide on this last slot. There are a lot of prized individual books and complete (or nearly so) runs I could pick, but I'll go with my 1972 New English Library Dracula collection. It's kind of hard to find, but it's very, very cool to look at. #1 sounds pretty amazing. ACME - that's the Chris Ware series? Still haven't tried reading anything of his. I'm missing Conan the Barbarian #s 1 & 3 - and at the prices I see online I'm doubtful I'll ever get them, though you never know - I managed to pick up a copy of CtB #2 not long ago at a reasonable price. Those Artist Edition things are so pricey I've never been able to bring myself to buy one. One day I might break down and give one a try - though I'd be more likely to do so if they printed the artists' un-inked pencils rather than the uncoloured but inked art. I've been slowly gathering together those NEL Dracula mags myself the last few years. Still missing 2 or 3 issues. Love the Esteban Maroto artwork.

If you're talking about anything in the world, my daughters are my Top 2 pride and joys, but if you're just talking comics/collectibles, I would go with: T5. Complete run of Tomb of Dracula (particularly since I only paid #5 for issue #10 years before anyone gave a crap about Blade) and runs of at least 250 consecutive issues each of Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Thor (Avengers, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Thor are all well over 400 issues in length) 4. Run of first X-Men/Uncanny X-Men series in floppy form from #94 to the end 3. X-Men #10 (first Silver Age Ka-Zar) - oldest comic I own 2. Complete run of Marvel Captain America, which I finally completed last year with my purchase of #117. 1. X-Men #13 - I told this story at least once at CBR, but I'd bought this comic when I was in high school for $25 but sold it in college to help my girlfriend at the time pay her tuition. When I started dating the woman who I eventually married, I told her the story, and for my wedding gift, she hunted down a copy of this issue in high grade because she felt like I should have it to replace the copy that I got sold. I would get rid of every other book (over 8,500 books) in my collection before I would ever consider getting rid of this one. I wish I had bought a back-issue of ToD #10 before the movies. Can't recall what they were asking back then, but whatever it was, I thought even that relatively reasonable price was too much at the time.
