Since my wife is running a 5K on Saturday morning, I will be taking my girls to FCBD with me around 8:00 AM. My LCS allows up to 8 books per person, and they are running a sale on Essentials, each of them going for just $4.99; my older daughter has already put aside her last few weeks of allowance to pick up a couple, and if my younger one wants something, I will get it for her (I'll probably just buy for both of them, since getting them things to read is never a bad thing).
I'll probably get myself Secret Wars (because free, even though I have no interest in the event itself) and Doctor Who, and I have no idea what the kids will get; they like such random things.

Just got back from my Daddy & Daughters trip to the LCS for FCBD. We got up early and made our way over there by 8:00 AM to avoid the rush, but there were still a decent amount of people in the store already. My younger daughter picked up four books, my older daughter only got two (she was a little squirrelly about taking things, even though she knew she was allowed), and I got four for myself (Doctor Who, Avengers, Secret Wars, and The Tick), and I bought two Captain America Essentials for the older one (at $4.99 each) and a Powerpuff Girls TPB for the younger one (at full price, but I've picked up a lot of other comics for my older one lately, so I figured I owed her something, regardless of cost).
After that, it was off to Dunkin' Donuts for some celebratory donuts, coffee, and juice. The one closest to our house has a special on weekends (and maybe during the week, not that we ever get over there on a weekday) where kids under 12 get a free doughnut, so that saved me having to buy a whole half-dozen to feed all of us.

Not much that I found for me. They were out of the 2000 AD and Valiant giveaways, which were the two I really wanted. But really, we go for the girls, and MAN was there stuff there for them!

I was a little bumbed that neither of the two shops I frequent had the Doctor who book or the Phantom book, but I did pick up the first vol. of Catwoman for pretty cheap!

I was only down for the Divergence issue, so I'll pick that up in a couple of weeks when I next visit the comic shop.

The TFAW store in Beaverton was mobbed. The line to get in went all the way down the block; the wait was about an hour. Just before entering the store, I discovered that the guy behind me with his two boys was former CBRian Nitmo. We exchanged business cards; I'll try to lure him here.
I picked up the store's limit of 10. So far I've read the Bongo Free-for-all, the Avengers, Secret Wars, Savage Dragon, Bob's Burgers, and a sampler from a company I'd never heard of, Red 5 - it was a pleasant surprise. I don't even remember which others were among the 10.

I got all the issues I wanted except the Captain Canuck book (d'oh!), and some cheap trades and back-issues, plus a nice size pile of books for 5 bucks at the library book sale. All this and Age of Ultron...good times.
