Withdraw from the Cover Contest because of I just can't think of one Cover that fits both criteria that Hoosier X was commenting on. Since I will be gone Friday to Sunday - I'm dropping out of this contest.

Cover date January 1968, on sale in Nov of '67....the cover's trappings-the logo, the Deadman face hiding in the D in the lettering at the bottom of the page, the oversized CCA stamp, The Superman/National/DC brand logo, the goofy costume of the villain, Deadman's red "Robin-style" booties-all scream Silver Age to me, but the level of violence on the cover (the chokehold), the composition of the piece itself (the action off-center-confined to one corner), the giant face in the background all seem much more hallmark of Bronze Age experimentation than Silver. -M

Not sure I fully understand the topic this week, but I'll give this a shot. This Flash cover, from 1984 (!) is a very Goofy-Bronze-Age cover that would fit in perfectly next to others from the time period, but came out ~20 years later! Look at that giant head poking up thru the cover to watch Big Sur from behind!

Caverns of Deadly Spheres Best JLA Story See Attachment - This story is a true Silver Age JLA Story that I consider one of the best in the early days of the Justice League of where they battled a super-villain by a name of Maestro and the attachment is one of the best picture bar none of where all the Justice Leaguers broke out of their bubbles by aid of Superman and the others. To me, this story that got everyone involved and one of the better teamwork stories of the good old days of the Justice League of America. I also like about the attachment is the heavy hitters - Wonder Woman, Superman, and Martian Manhunter - Front and Center to stun the Maestro in total shock. I know we're not supposed to argue too much on the contest, but have you read the theme carefully? Yours is from 1962 and pure Silver Age, nothing Bronze about it.

Don't drop out, MechGodzilla!
Justice League is one of the best titles for this contest! For the JLA, the transition from Silver Age to Bronze is one of the more interesting periods. I had one of the Showcase volumes for the JLA that covered 1970 to 1971 and it kind of boggled my mind how weird they were. You could pick any JLA issue at random from 1969 to 1971 and it would be perfect for this contest.

I'm dropping out of this contest. Sorry. Hey Mecha, don't drop out of this--I for one love to see all the various covers you guys expose me to, and yours are always very eye-opening. To be sure, this week's theme is very challenging--coming up with a 1960s/1970s cover that has both Silver Age and Bronze Age elements--not an easy task ! I really love your JLA cover and I think it would fit in with that "Impossible/Goofy Cover Situations" thread. It's a fantastic cover and deserves to be seen. Maybe you can move it to that thread, and then post a different cover here.

Do we have to explain the cover choice ? Depends. Are you in it to win it? Ha. Oh yeah! But if I have to explain my cover then it shouldn't win. See ?

Explaining it is half the fun. Allows you to talk a bit about why you chose a certain cover and what you see that other people may not. Hence, why I like some entries from past contests where people add insight to the cover. This one is a more tricky topic, sure, but embrace the challenge!
And hey, if you don't like what you see, no need to berate anyone. Remember, if you don't like it, don't vote for it.

Decided my first choice didn't fit. I'll post something later when I find a cover I'm happier with.

This one is a real anachronism. Coming out in 1953, Weird Horrors #7 is as much post Golden Age as verifiable Silver Age, making it all the more remarkable, but boy does it ever present as if it came straight out of the psychedelic 70's!

This is my entry. This comic came out in 1972. I picked this because The Silver Surfer and the Surprise last page Villain, Galactus not seen since 1965 , ties this mini saga to the Silver Age. The introduction of Gabriel in this issue makes him a new Bronze age Character added to the Marvel universe. Not a bad 4 parter either. * Edit: My mistake , Galactus appeared in Thor # 168 which came out in 1969.
