Somebody should make a video game about a gay couple trying to get a marriage license in Concordia Parish in Louisiana. The first step is making it to 18 without being killed by bullies or committing suicide because of bullying. Then you have to get out of the parking lot and up to the courthouse without being harassed by the cops.
Then you have to attract the clerk's attention. Then you wait while the clerk pretends to try to find the non-bigot clerk.
If anybody else can think of any other hilarious and fun obstacles the gay couple might have to face before they can get married, join in!

Are the rules and regulation by which a US government employee has to work by actual US law? Private companies make up their own employee regulations as long as the obey US law so they can run their buisness as they choose other than that. They have a right as a private buisness to refuse service to anyone. Does that go for government employees too?

Someone else is going to have to issue you that license sir."

If anyone is going to have an objection to said situation it would have to be legal not moral. Moral discrimination is only left to private business as the supposed penalty is restricting the customers you allow in is restricting the amount of cash in your pocket.

Private businesses also tend to have more leeway than public servants. I am no lawyer but I would be SHOCKED if it were not written policy that a county clerk lose their job for objecting to marry interracial couples.

The legality is what won the argument of homosexuals having as much right to marry as heterosexuals. Legality is the only valid point to win the argument for either side at this point to keep on the road we are on or for those opposing it to win. Murder is a perfect example of how morals aren't universal no matter if the majority agrees it's wrong or not. Making it punishable by law deters most but not all.

Bobby Jindal was singing a different tune about a justice of the peaces's "conscience" and the rule of law as set down by the Supreme Court in 2009. If they're doing there job, this should be front and center of EVERY left wing news show/web site/whatever... what a PERFECT example!

Just because the threat of prison doesn't deter all murder doesn't mean we should take that threat away from all would be murderers and murderers.

No, no I meant if it is indeed illegal for a country clerk to refuse to process a homosexual couple's marriage licence then you are more likely to get less people refusing to do it. Even if it's just excessive fines. It's hard to win on the moral ground because everyone's morals are different. But the law is the law and if one refuses to obey it they have to suffer the consequences.

Bobby Jindal was singing a different tune about a justice of the peaces's "conscience" and the rule of law as set down by the Supreme Court in 2009. Mr. Jindal doesn't seem to notice the hypocrisy. Here's an article where the ACLU is suing because of his executive order that protects public servants for doing the exact same thing he's saying this justice of the peace should be removed for (substituting "gay marriage" for "interracial marriage").

Alabama has been ordered to start issuing marriage licenses. By one of those activist Republican/Bush appointee judges.

her response to the Gay child (on Humans of New York) was 100% amaze-balls. Clinton wrote, “Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing. You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them.”just perfect.

From a story about the Evangelical hate summit:
Now, which one of those job description sounds like the most ridiculous qualification? And which one do you guess just pulled ahead in the latest national primary poll?

It's funny that Trump was trailing pretty far behind until he went full on apologetically racist to the point of losing all endorsements he's held for years. That Republican base...
And he still thinks he's getting the Latino vote, and analysts say he'll need at least 40% of that to win.

Since I recall there were a few Bernie Sanders fans here: I should add that this is the LCS where I keep my pull list. I've been shopping here for about 2-3 years now, except for a brief interlude where I was getting books at another store that didn't end up working out so great (I previously posted about this in another thread). It's a great store -- big, clean, bright, well-stocked with lots of goodies besides comics (statues, toys, original art, collectibles, etc), and good service. Business is apparently good too -- one of the employees was telling me over Christmas how well the store did last year. They are also usually at most of the major conventions as well, so check out their booth if you see them on the road, or stop by the store if you're ever in town.
