I actually joined a gym this week and my son and I did our first hour just tonight. From my high school days of averaging 5 miles in 30 minutes; tonight I managed 1.5 miles in 30 minutes with a 5 minute cool down. Averaging 2 mph on the low interval and 4.2 mph on the high interval.
Then I did a bit of weights, as my son is wanting to go to strengthen himself so he can more easily use his compound bow; as he's gotten into archery.
Myself I'd just like to get more active and get some exercise in just because I sit in an office for around 80% of my day and don't get any activity much. Any weight loss would be a bonus. But I'm more looking to burn the calories I take in and at least prevent more weight gain. But long term I'd like to take of 20 lbs or so.

I'm going the wrong way. after a week of Exercising every other day (after a short 1/2 hour walk the first time, the other 3 have been 1:20 minute 4 mile walks), I still put on a couple of pounds. not sure if that's because the weight was still "adding up" from the cruise before I actually got back on my plan, or if it's because Nick's Birthday was on Sat, so I've had cake a few days in a row, and we ate out rich, cheesy food this weekend (with leftovers on Sun). but regardless, disappointed, and the only good thing I can focus on is that I'm at least still under 190#. but up 2lbs from last week, and weight 189.2# this morning. . up 14.2lbs from my lowest weight

been ~3 weeks since I started back on my exercise program. . and I continue to gain about 2lbs per week. not sure what's going on, other than maybe the stress/depression followed by the cruise eating really messed up my metabolism. I'm trying to eat healthy, and am doing an hour and 15 minute walk every other day. and yet. . gained again. weight this morning is 191.4 # so not only gained 16 lbs since my lowest (175#), but now over 190 NOT helping with my depression.

Bert - this ain't going to be what you want to hear, but it's almost certainly not your metabolism. It's a simple equation - Calories in and Calories out.
Eating "clean" isn't enough for weight control, you have to have the calorie balance as well - 500 calories of grilled chicken is the same as 500 calories of burgers or caramel eggs as far as the weight goes (not recommending the latter as healthy diet!).
I know a lot people don't like logging calories, but I woould urge you to give MyFitnessPal (or similar) a go for at least a couple of weeks, and preferably longer, and log everything you eat and drink, and every bit of exercise, to see where you calorie balance is.
If after that you're still under your calorie limit and gaining weight then we need to think about a Plan B, but you need to be rigorous about it and give it some time for the control to set in and lose the water weight that you'll have gained, and to check that you're really eating what you think you're eating - it's real easy to comfort graze when you're feeling low or stressed, and to "lose" some of the things you've grazed on while your main focus is on your sadness or other events in your life, but it all adds up even if we don't recollect eating the stuff.

169lbs this morning, so continuing to oscillate around 168 without actually making any progress (though, as I was 174 on Monday (damn you French restaurants!) - I'll happily take 169).
2 bike days and 1 gym day this week, which isn't great, but I was ill at the start of the week, so not too bad. Closing in on 1000 miles on the bike for this year - might get there tomorrow, which will be a nice milestone, and certainly the earliest in the year I've ever got there - took me until the end of July last year, which was my previous best.

Holding around 248 and firm and between Water Polo and eating Salads with Spinach and Oranges have been doing great for me and doing well. The problem with Water Polo - I have to eat a snack between meals to keep me going. But my meals been small and manageable and that's a good thing. Water Polo should end in March and Playoff begins in April. Our record is outstanding 25 Wins and 6 Losses. We have 7 Games to go to end this Season ... A double match tomorrow and another match on Monday; followed by another Match on Wednesday and Friday. And a Double Match next Saturday to clear this Season over.

still 13lbs over my lowest weight. .but I'm FINALLY going in the right direction.
as of this morning, I weighed at 188# - so down ~3 1/2 lbs from last week (and I did 4, hour+ walks, and last night we went out dancing for a good 2 hours.. so I'm sure that helped!).
but happy to be headed back in the "right" direction, even if still up overall.
now if I can just keep it going!

so I come back and the thread goes silent?
LOL
ok, well at least I continue to trend in the correct direction.
after doing my best to eat well and exercise all week, (and going out dancing last night, so I'm sure I've lost water weight). . as of this morning, I weighed 186.6 lbs.
so down another 1 1/2 lbs since Monday.
and up 11.6 from my lowest weight. . but at least trending the down direction, so pleased about that!

Well, I've broken the 168 plateau - I'm down nearly 5 pounds in the last 5 days, to 163.2. Unfortunately, as you might expect from such a precipitous decline, it's not my doing, it's my 2nd bout of D&V in 2 weeks - currently in day 5 of the 2nd bout.

I realized while bushing my teeth on Sat night, that 1/2 my face was going numb. I couldn't do anything about it on Sunday (since we had to go to Houston for my Mom's Ashes internment ceremony), but at the urging of MANY of my FB friends, went to the ER last night. many, many $$, and hours later, diagnosed with Bell's Palsy (which I knew it was, since I've had it before, and why I wasn't concerned it was a stroke). . . anyways. . on the Steroids already, but still progressing downwards, as now the entire left side of my face has no movement at all. made it a bitch to eat starting yesterday evening. . . . so maybe I'll drop more weight? (trying to find the bright side). from the emergency room.. the paralysis is worse this morning:
