Omg. So sorry, Bert. I'm keeping you in prayer that God heals your body. How does a person get bells Palsey ? it's an inflamation of the 7th nerve in one's brain (that controls facial movements). there's disagreement on what causes it (although most doctors think it's connected to the Herpes virus - sexual, or shingles/chicken pox type, that most people have been exposed to). That's why he gave me an anti-viral along w/ the steroids. www.webmd.com/brain/tc/bells-palsy-topic-overviewwhat brings it on?. . . typically stress. . tho this might also have been helped along with my dental appt. on Thurs. the novacaine needle went awfully close to where the Dr. said the nerve kind of goes by. . so that could have irritated it too. there's no cure.. it has to just improve itself in 2-3 weeks. but the steroids supposedly help. . . (I've had this once before about 10 years ago. .it sucks when one's face just stops responding)

About 3 years ago, my wife got shingles. It's brought on by stress also. Sorry man.

Yesterday, I played my last Water Polo Match because I suffered a season ending injury to my left knee due to a rough housing player on the other side. He got suspended by the league for the remainder of the season. My injury is marginal, but I just can't play for 4 weeks and that's includes the playoffs as well. So, I'm out exercising for 4 weeks and wearing a knee brace to protect it. I can only do walking (minimum of 2 miles every other day) for exercise and no water polo at all. It's a bummer - but I have to live with it for the next four weeks.

continuing to improve from the Bells Palsy (slightly more each day, tho below my eye remains stubborn. SLIGHT movement from nostril/cheek now, but still not much from left side of mouth. They did say it could take up to 3 months, and at least I'm seeing improvement, so that's a good sign.
also continuing to trend the right direction on scale. . .tho only dropping ~1 lb a week.. which seems super slow considering how much I'm working my butt off. But hey, a pound is a pound, right?
as of this morning, I am 184.2 #
so only ~9 lbs up from my lowest, and down a good 7 lbs from the 16 I gained back from my depression spiral at the end of the year.
so yay me.

1 pound per week is good solid progress, and is really the top end of what's sustainable, unless you're starting from a point of being hugely overweight - realistically, you're unlikely to ever have again the easy wins you got when you were plummeting down from your starting weight. Slow and steady is the game, now that you've already lost a shed load of weight

I have been pretty good at loosing weight the last couple of weeks by using My fitness app to keep track of what I eat. I have lost about 3 kilo the last 3 weeks so I am pretty happy with that. Its been a lot easier then I thought it would be. That app really makes me double think everytime I want to eat something unhealthy.

I'm at 250, a gain of two pounds because of no water polo and limited exercise because of my left knee. Just came back from the gym so I can weigh myself and work on the treadmill lightly and do some weights too.

I finally bought a new battery for my scale. I've been stalling about getting on that dreaded scale...

Time to get hold of myself. I weighed myself and was 217.8 this morning. I prepared my food for today and am off sugar and bread. I work best when I have deadlines so I plan to be 195 by June 10th. June 10th is my HS reunion day.
