Hey, I was just a skinny lad, never knew no
good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat Fanny, she was such
a naughty nanny
Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Lyrics from Queen: Fat Bottomed Girls written by Brian May

Dr. Who: The Tenth Planet
CUTLER: Now look, I don't know who you are or what you are, but we've got two men in space. If we don't act now we won't get them back alive. CYBERMAN : They will not return. CUTLER: Why not? CYBERMAN : It is unimportant now. CUTLER: But we must get them back! CYBERMAN: There is really no point. They could never reach Earth now. POLLY: But don't you care? Cyberman : Care? No, why should I care? POLLY: Because they're people and they're going to die! CYBERMAN : I do not understand you. There are people dying all over your world yet you do not care about them.

Dr. Who: The Caves of Androzani
The climax to episode 3 and one of the finest cliffhangers in the show's 26 year history.
Stotz: "You better turn this ship around Doctor!" The Doctor: "Why?" Stotz: "Because I'll kill you if you don't!" The Doctor: "Not a very convincing argument actually, Stotz, because I'm going to die soon anyway, unless of course..." Stotz: "I'll give you to the count of three!" The Doctor: "Unless of course I can find the antidote… I owe it to my young friend to try because I got her into this..." Stotz: "One." The Doctor: "So you see..." Stotz: "Two." The Doctor: "I'm not going to let you stop me now!!!"

Completely off topic, @hammer1979, but your avatar is rocking my world. City Lights is one of my favorite films of all time, and Charles Chaplin might well be my favorite person.

City Lights is a masterpiece of storytelling and my favorite Chaplin film of all time. I usually watch it at least once a year. It's just such a brilliant film on all levels. The amount of work he put into his films is astounding. The ending of the film when he meets up with the flower girl again may be my most favorite scene of any movie I have ever seen. Again it's just brilliant. Always brings a tear to my eye.

The amount of work he put into his films is astounding. I still prefer Modern Times to City Lights, but both are masterpieces, even moreso when you consider how controversial and progressive both films' messages were, as well as the fact that Chaplin steered virtually every aspect of both productions, right down to composing the scores himself. Outstanding. He may have been one of the most exceptional artists ever to live. I always want to be moved by that ending, but I just can't forgive her for laughing at him before she realized who he was. I think that's part of why Modern Times always wins out for me. That ending does make me cry (as well as smile) every time.

"Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods? Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?...
Bonnie Tyler, "Holding out for a Hero," lyrics and music by Jim Steinman and Dean Pitchford.
Whatever happened to Leon Trotsky? He got an ice pick That made his ears burn
Whatever happened to dear old Lenny? The great Elmyra, And Sancho Panza?
Whatever happened to the heroes? Whatever happened to the heroes?
Whatever happened to all the heroes? All the Shakespearoes? They watched their Rome burn
Whatever happened to the heroes? Whatever happened to the heroes? No more heroes any more No more heroes any more ...
-The Stranglers
... I, I can remember (I remember) Standing, by the wall (by the wall) And the guns shot above our heads (over our heads) And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall) And the shame was on the other side Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever Then we could be Heroes, just for one day ....
David Bowie, "Heroes"

Styx: The Grand Illusion.
So if you think your life is complete confusion Because your neighbor's got it made Just remember that it's a grand illusion And deep inside we're all the same

"Can I ask you a question, sir?" said Maurice, as Death turned to go.
YOU MAY NOT GET AN ANSWER.
"I suppose there isn't a Big Cat in the Sky, is there?"
I'M SURPRISED AT YOU, MAURICE. OF COURSE THERE ARE NO CAT GODS. THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH LIKE...WORK.
-Sir Terry Pratchett (RIP), The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents
A man who knew a thing or two about cats.

Bartlett Robinson: "I tried to get you some sand dabs...."
Jimmy Stewart: "No Sand dabs..
Robinson: "No sand dabs..."
Stewart: "Frank, there's something I ought to tell ya'; I hope you won't get sore."
Robinson: "Of course not Slim."
Stewart: "Those sand dabs of yours are just terrible, the way you weld them, with that acetylene flavor..."
Robinson: "You ate them."
Stewart: "Well...I thought I'd better, if I wanted the airplane on time."
-The Spirit of St Louis (1957), directed by Billy Wilder
