Thanks for giving me my 1st Classic Cover Contest victory. This is a theme I thought of a while ago and have kept in reserve in case I should win one. I'm calling it:
"Comic characters are Jerks!"
It based in part on the classic X-Men splash page where Kitty Pryde proclaims that Prof. X is a jerk:
and in part on the concept of the Superdickery.com website. Basically, post covers that show a character being a jerk. He/she can be a jerk to another character, an animal, the universe in general, whatever. But, before you head off to Superdickery, I don't want this to be too easy or just a copy of Superdickery. So the catch is, the character being a jerk can be anyone (superhero, western, war, funny animal, etc)
EXCEPT FOR SUPERMAN.
Because let's face it, Superman being a jerk is just too easy. He can be on the cover as the victim or a bystander, but not as the jerk.
Here's my example:
The rules:
-Post one, and only one, classic cover that fits the theme of the contest.
-Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before Jan 1 2005.
-Covers must be posted before voting begins.
-Voting is on Tuesday June 30, beginning at 12:01am PST and ending at 11:59pm PST
-Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most
-Put the name in bold.
-The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends.
-The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest.
-If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it; don't post disparaging remarks about it. If a cover is more recent that the Classic time frame, kindly point it out and the poster can choose an alternate before voting begins.
-When posting covers, remember GCD (aka comics.org) doesn't allow hotlinking and if you use them for the source to post your cover, you will see it because it is in your cache, but no one else will be able to see it. Use a source other than the GCD for your image for others to see it.
Thanks, and let's see what jerks you can find.

Turn about is fair play. Looks like all that Superdickery has finally come home to roost.

I see some people are side skirting the Superdickery (barely) and posting Superman related covers...nice work on a couple of them.

Good covers, but lets stay away from the Superman covers. Superboy gets a pass because I said Superman, but Superman being a jerk is just too easy to find.

From the fact that she's whipping a puppet (?) to the sheer viciousness on her face, it's really weird they were selling this to kids. Good job.
