Wasnt Daredevil the book about which Waid stated they would have to prise from his cold dead hands ? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that getting offered that Avengers money changed his tune.

Anyone heard anything about Dan Slott on Silver Surfer? I haven't seen anything announced in solicitations or elsewhere. They are releasing the next trade this fall which collects up to issue #15, which is one more issue away. I could see them wrapping things up after that, but it would be nice to see the book go longer with the current creative team. Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm actually buying more Marvel books now than I ever have before, and Silver Surfer is 1/3rd of the reason why. I really hope it continues in its's current form.

They released the Dec. solicits not long ago, and nothing about Silver Surfer there. I hope it goes on, but I wouldn't be surprised if they let it end at #15. SS is one of those characters that they seem let disappear for a while and then revive for a solo series every few years. In happier news... I noticed on Twitter that Charles Soule mentioned something about working on a new She-Hulk script. It sounds like they are going to give her a second run sometime in the near future.

I read somewhere earlier today that Mike Allred confirmed more Silver Surfer is coming from him and Slott at Rose City this weekend and he even had the art for the cover of the new #1 he was showing (but not allowing people to take pics of). It's not been announced yet from Marvel, but it's coming. -M Edit: It was at Bleeding Cool article here

Interesting new reveal today: The new Black Panther will be written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and with Brian Stelfreeze on art. I think I will have to buy a print sub for this just to support the idea of Coates working on a comic. I could wait for it to come on Unlimited, buut I want to financially support this one. I am wary of Stelfreeze being able to handle a monthly (Day Men had a hideous release schedule), but I think I am in on this as long as Coates is on board. -M PS Here's the promo art from Stelfreeze...

If I remember right, She Hulk was supposed to be a 12 issue run, which was to be relaunched at some point in the future. So hopefully the near future.

Not familiar with that Mr Coates. What has he done to trigger your excitment? He is the national corespondent (and former editor) of the Atlantic, written two books/extended essays about his experiences and race in America, is the 2015 National Book Award winner, and very likely will be up for the Pulitzer, so he is just a top notch writer with talent, with his own identity, voice, conviction in what he does and believes. He is a knowledgeable comics fan and has written several pieces that demonstrate not only does he know his stuff, he knows what makes a good story and what makes a bad story, and that he understands what story is and what characters are, and is not just one who presents ideas on paper played out by plot puppets. He has a built in national audience that will bring new faces and new voices to comics, probably likely to get more people to actually look at and read a Marvel Comic for the first time than all the Marvel Studios Productions and their billions in ticket sales have accomplished together. He is an activist, and the son of a Black Panther and has seen and experienced a lot of things in life that will influence and inform his writing (and already has) in ways that not many working in comics currently have. He makes some people uncomfortable, he does his homework (you can disagree with him(and I do on some issues) but you cannot deny his positions are well-researched and not pulled out of his ass just because...like so many positions on both sides of the political divide. His writing entertains and makes you think. It's not likely to be the same ole same ole you have seen reused, retread, or re-purposed over again and again in mainstream super-hero comics ad nauseum as he will bring something new even to the familiar. In the end, it is Marvel making strides to reach a new audience and do something different, something that reflects true diversity not patronizing/pandering changes to give a veneer of diversity. That is some of the reasons why I am excited to see what Coates will bring to Black Panther. And the Stelfreeze art doesn't hurt either. -M

I may check out the new Scarlet Witch book. I think I saw a new Hercules book that looked interesting as well. I want to say I saw a Hellcat book too.

Good to see that he's a comic fan and probably won't be one of the big-time writers that start writing comics, but looks down on them. Also interesting that the son of a Black Panther grows up to write a Black Panther comic. I'll probably wait for the trade to see what kind of reviews the comic gets, but this sounds promising.
