Legally, the shop owner was within his rights but morally, he gets a big fail.

I hope that shop closes and the dude goes broke. I doubt it will happen because of this, I just hope all his customers go digital or something.

Legally, the shop owner was within his rights but morally, he gets a big fail. Right?! You'd think that just the proximity to that number of superhero comics would cause some decency or selflessness to rub off, but no.
What a shame.

I don't like it but I am confident that he will answer for this in another time or place. Some people call it Karma, some call it -what goes around...I call it you reap what you sow. I've seen it happen. It's real.

Not as a cosmic balance, but as a general "Scummy people surround themselves with other scummy people" thing, and eventually the kind of guy who victimizes others will be a victim himself.

You'd also think that what I'm pretty sure is a rather significant fan & pro community in the Phoenix area (where the scumsucking LCS in question is located) could somehow have gotten its stuff together & gotten the comics back. Not to cast aspersions, but still ... good grief.

Yeah, but I hope we're around to witness it.

Legally, the shop owner was within his rights but morally, he gets a big fail. Is he, though? I know some proprietors can state that they "reserve the right to refuse service" etc. but how strong is that legally? If she went in to buy the comics the same as any other customer, isn't she being discriminated against? In any case this guy is an idiot; by refusing to sell the comics, he is getting involved in the dispute.

For example...they can't refuse to serve black folk because they happen to be black folk. They can, however, refuse to serve a particular black person because he smells like ass.

So I realize this was not the original intent of this thread, but the title reminded me that, the night my parents sat me down and explained to me that they were going to divorce, my mom pulled out this comic to try to make me feel better. I'd been wanting this book for months now (it was 1989, this book was on the wall of my LCS and was pretty much the oldest comic I'd ever seen), but getting it under those circumstances felt incredibly wrong and weird. I'd mostly forgotten about that moment until now.

I should cover her Alpha Flight. I've bought the first 10 issues, like, 4 times now for various friends. So, I should get at least the first 10 for her. I would MURDER if someone sold my Alpha Flight.
