Guns of the Dragon was the sweetest and least seen, totally awesome comic of the 90s. It was a pulp-lover's paradise, with dinosaurs, Asian pirates, immortal villains, femme fatales, WW1 aviators and sailors and Bat Lash! Tim Truman was cooking with nitro! Sheva's War was equally awesome (and probably just as unseen). It was the second installment (well, sort of, depending on whether you count the stories in Negative Burn and "The Passage," from DHP) in Christopher Moeller's excellent Iron Empires saga. Sadly, the audience wasn't enough for Moeller to create Iron Empires stories full time and even part-time all but dried up. Despite not being a veteran, Moeller understood the military and had done his research. The added sci-fi element really made it a great series, with some pretty creepy images. If Hollywood wants some nice comics for a franchise/tv series, this is a good one.

September 1988: not much on the comic buying list at this time. What few I do purchase are not really entertaining me all that much. The fun is Defalco's future Marvel universe of A-Next, Spider-girl and J2. Kazar is a visual feast but already nearing its end. Thunderbolts is exciting and different. Romita Jr is on Thor channeling some inner Kirby awesomeness.
A-Next 2 Avengers 10 FF 11 heroes for Hire 17 Iron Man 1 J2 #2 Kazar 19 Thor 5 Thunderbolts 20
