It seems like an illusion to me, the Batman in Detective has almost never lined up with Batman and neither one has often felt like the same character thats in Justice League or the Outsiders despite numerous refrences between the four titles over the decades. At the end of the day they're all individual stories and it's up to you to fill in the blanks if you choose...and that's no different now.

It's hard to explain if you don't get it. Back in the day, when say, in an Iron Man issue, when he's say something about whatever was happening in Avengers, or when the Avengers would call Reed Richards for help, and he's say he was busy, it always made me want to see what else was going on. You could do that back in the day and still read about the same characters in different books. You can't really now, and it's sad, IMO. I liked that type of continuity also, but I don't let it get in the way of enjoying a story. For instance, this last year in Marvel, Reed Richards was involved in his own adventures in the FF book and also a major player in the New Avengers. You would be hard pressed to reconcile the two but why bother? I just enjoy the ride.

I almost feel like it's false advertising. The Reed Richard's in Robinson's FF is a completely different character, acting in a completely different Marvel Universe. It doesn't stop me from enjoying anything,(no amount of proper continuity could make Hickman's nonsense good), but it does annoy me.
