New recent stuff I read The recent issue of Nova. I heard its the last issue Thanos and Hulk. Now I'm reading Rebirth Superman with both of the #1 issues. Nova got a new number 1 when Rich Rider came back.. it's up to #6 or 7 I think. Sam had 2 different series IIRC.

Read the 1st trade for the recent Turok reboot... a little spare on the art (especially the backgrounds), though the dinosaurs were pretty good. Plotwise, it was decent, but honestly the world it implies (with the crusaders winning, then coming to North America) is more interesting than the story of Turok, which was decent, but pretty trope-y. I might get the rest of the series if I find it in a dollar bin (guess it ran 12 issues).

I'm going to try actually read all of my FCBD books tomorrow at work. Could be interesting. I'll report back.
Edit to add: Left them at home, maybe next weekend.

I've read (in tpb form) the first couple issues of Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston's Black Hammer series (Dark Horse). I don't know if it fully deserves the hype it's been getting (although granted, it is only the first couple of issues), but it's pretty decent.

I'll give it another couple of issues, but I suspect I'll end up dropping it and waiting until it's finished and all out in trade.

Blue Beetle Rebirth and first two issues of the following series.
I'm mostly familiar with Jaime Reyes through the Young Justice cartoon. While Giffen and Kolins set up the nice friction between Kord and Reyes and maintain his family dynamic, this series hasn't grabbed onto me like I thought it would.

While I thought that it was kind of neat that Reyes' armor suit comes from The Rock Of Eternity and not outer space, it really didn't stop the book from being rather dull. Which is a shame considering that I usually love anything Giffen puts to paper Also in the process of reading Mike Allred's "Bug! The Adventures Of Forager #1", I think it might have stolen "Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye"'s spot as my favorite Young Animal title

The other day I read the weird Rock Candy Mountain issue 1. Pacing was a bit slow and the artwork was just too weird for me lol.
Tonight I am planning on reading Regression issue 1. I heard its pretty much creepy and stuff

Read Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1-the first part of the crossover between the main Star Wars book and Doctor Aphra-and really dug it. Both books haven't been thrilling me all that much lately, but I like seeing Luke and Aphra interacting.

Just read this collection of the 2010 Image title #1-6. Story and art by Ian Churchill. The story was very good. Churchill wrote an all ages story with an art style that was more cartoony than his usual style. It features marine biologist & TV star Steve Ocean. His secret gets revealed to the world & he finds out his true origin. Fun series featuring a hero that combines Aquaman, Sea Hunt & Jacques Cousteau. I hope to see another Marine Man series.

Really wish there were more Aquaman/Namor Homage books, the only other one that I can think of that's written half competently is Elite's "Seadragon"

Nothing makes me more giddy than old hats who've honed their craft coming back to the source to try and rekindle the spark of creativity/limitless impossibilities for a newer, much younger generation. Why do you think I love Terry Funk so much? He may seem like a sweet old man, but he can still brawl with the best of them
