We do this for classic stuff a thread for recent acquisitions, and a lot of the appeal of the modern indy books is their availability in trade without having to do the monthly (or thereabouts grind). You may pick up a great new indy series, not the latest issue or latest release on a Wednesday at the lcs, but at a show, or on Amazon or another online seller weeks, months, or even years after it is released (but not 10 years later or it would become a classic comic). So here's thread to share what indy books you are picking up, enjoying, sampling, etc.
Being disappointed with the deals offered on Prime, Day, I still had a $50 gift card to use, so I picked up a bunch of trades, mostly the latest volumes of stuff I had been following. I got...
Velvet Vol. 2 (I started in floppies but switched to trades when I ditched my pull list, and got Vol. 1 on the cheap at Origins, the issues in Vol. 2 were just starting to come out in floppy when I stopped).
Fatale Vol. 5 (read in floppies, but decided to get in trade for the long term as it is a series I will reread and I traded/sold the individual issues).
Lazarus Vol. 3 (same deal as Velvet but stuff form Vol. 3 was just starting to come out).
The Sixth Gun Vol. 2-highly enjoyed Vol. 1, and want to keep moving forward on the series.
Trees Vol. 1-read the fist issue in floppy and generally enjoy Warren Ellis' stuff, so wanted to check out the rest of it.
So five trades winging their way to me arriving later this week.
I still have some of the trades I got at Origins to read through yet as well (47 Ronin, Outcast Vol. 1, The Fade Out Vol. 1) and a stack of stuff on my shelves waiting to be cracked open.

I'm just not crazy about the wait for another volume. I have Trees on my to-read list. I'm a big fan of Ellis.

This past weekend I also picked up The Secret History Omnibus Volume 3 (I just need to find a copy of Book 14 now to have the whole run, I am tempted t pick up the second omnibus ( I have Vol 1 and 3, but all the individual issues between except 14), Hellboy Volume 4 (though this might be old enough to be classic) and Parker: The Outfit by Darwyn Cooke.

I have 4 Parker TPBs in e-book format as part of a Humble Bundle some while ago, but not read them yet (Bundle also included The March (not read yet), Locke&Key (had a lot of this in paper, but missed the last one), LOEG: Nemo (halfway through those) and some other stuff, which I read but didn't really find memorable.)
I have ordered the final TPB of Hectic Planet (thanks to shaxper's Non Big Two list, which reminded me that I still needed to get that), but it has a long waiting period. Getting it 6th of August if all goes well.
Next month Five Ghosts, TPB 3.
Plus a lot of European stuff, which I still want to write up, but can't find time for.

I've been reading Peter Panzerfaust, which was great for the first 2... the 3rd volume was a bit of a mid-series blah. I have a few in my to read pile... I tend to grab anything Image or Boom discounts enough to try .

Southern Bastards is really good, even if I'm not sure where the heck they're going.. that's actually kinda a good thing.
I read Rasputin vol 1 on the train yesterday... decent concept, but SUPER decompressed...took my less than 1/2 hour to read the 5 issue trade. Art is very Mignola-esque. Not bad if you don't get aggravated finish a comic that fast.. I defintely wouldn't get the singles, though.

Finder: third world, by Carla Speed McNeil
The finder trades are now published by Dark Horse (Carla's own Lightspeed Press imprint used to do it) and I somehow didn't realize this book came out when it did.
Still one of my favorites indy books, as it's been for a decade and a half.

Read Jupiter's Legacy today... probably not the best timing, as I feel like I've read quite a few 'superhero gone bad' stories lately. Still, it was pretty good... a little bit Millar-y, but not too bad. Some fun call outs to the Incredibles. I'll probably pick up the 2nd trade at some point.

Then noticed it was Image and not Dark Horse.

Before heading on my holiday a few weeks back, I picked up a plethora of Stjepan and Linda Sejic trades - Ravine vol 1 and 2 - Aphrodite IX vol 1 - Men of Honor vol 1 - Wildfire vol 1 Haven't read Men of Honor. I had issue 1 of Wildfire and was disappointed in it (but then I studied biotechnology before I switched careers, so I'm to close to it). Generation IX #1 was interesting, but it tied into the larger Top Cow Universe (which I wasn't expecting at the time when I bought, though it was pretty obvious that it was Aphrodiate IX) with the Witchblade and the Darkness showing up. I think I'll get the trade for it. I enjoyed Ravine a lot (I have the dutch translation, so instead of 2 trades, I have 6 European style oversized softcovers. www.darkdragonbooks.com/c-2074113/ravine/) The first trade is pretty rough on the writing, which I mentioned back on CBR and Stjepan (who posted there a lot... possible that he still posts there, but I don't) acknowledged that and said that it was his first attempt at writing. The second one improves a lot. I am really enjoying his Death Vigil and his work on Rat Queens (though it has only been 1 issue so far). Debating on whether to get Sunstone or not.
