Said the man who hates bananas, which of course are shaped like ... uh ... bananas, y'know. Hey, whatever people do in the privacy of their own homes, with the produce of their choice, is no business of mine.

The Tingler is a fantastic movie! One of William Castle's best and a great performance from Vincent Price. Possibly the first LSD trip on film. Love that bathtub scene. That's one of my favorites as well - I was stunned to see a splash of red in this movie and that's makes it a memorable movie. Here's the trailer ...

Watched some very good movies over the past week or so.
Poltergeist-wasn't as scary as I thought it would be which was a good thing. The cast was great and the acting was top notch it it.
48 Hours- I always passed this film up. I've had it on my instant queue for over a year now. Finally got around to it. Walter Hill directed this as well as one of my favorites the Warriors. A couple of the same actors are in both. The villains in this are ruthless and really awful. I especially like how Eddie Murphy wasn't over the top with the comedy in this one. And Nick Nolte played a great tough nosed cop. Excellent movie.
Falling Down-Michael Douglas was great in this as a kind of nerdy looking guy who has a temper and finally loses his cool and is fed up with everything. Robert Duvall was a great as the soon to retire detective who pieces the whole thing together. Decent enough movie.
Badlands- all time great but I did some searching and I wonder why Malick decided to make Sissy Spacek seem so innocent almost kind of dumb as to what was happening. In real life she doesn't come off that way in the story at all. And she also states at the end she got off on parole or probation but in real life served 17 years. Seems pretty odd to me that it was changed. I'd assume it was changed cause there wouldn't be much of a film if it was just 2 young nut jobs going around killing people.
Buddy Holly Story-great performance by Gary Busey who should've won the Oscar for this. Very cool that he and the rest of the cast sang and played their own instruments. I didn't know Buddy Holly had that much of an impact on music as far as the band setup and sounds.

I recently watched the (post- MST3k) Cinematic Titanic cut of Wasp Woman (1959). I saw this a few times unmolested on UHF 25 years ago and remembered it rather well. Not that there was much to remember. The old gang did a pretty good job taking apart this Corman cheapie. www.hulu.com/watch/375259

Wasp Woman is actually pretty awesome, in its own humble way. I don't think I'm interested in seeing it with a bunch of outside comments because it's incredibly entertaining as it is.
I watched Baby Doll earlier today. Good Lord! I could hardly believe what I was seeing! (And I mean that in the good way.) Carroll Baker is incredible, aided and abetted by Karl Malden and Tuco himself, Eli Wallach. This is highly recommended. If you've ever thought about watching it but passed on it because you didn't think you were in the mood, I urge you to give it a chance. It's exactly what I thought it would be, but it wasn't at all what I expected.
And I just finished The Public Enemy. Great movie. I haven't seen it for a while and I totally forgot that Jimmy Cagney is Satanic!

Ai think it's a pretty much by-the-numbers horror movie, though the corporate in-fighting makes it a little more interesting. fun fact: the opening section of the scientist getting fired from the bee farm was added after the initial release to make the movie long enough to sell to TV.

I second Hoosier's enthusiasm for Wasp Woman, but then it's no secret I'm an absolute sucker for just about all sf/horror from that general era.
Ditto for Baby Doll, which I rented on VHS about, I dunno, probably at least 20 years ago. Must be seen to be believed, & well worth it.

Last night, I watched The Three Faces of Eve. It's great! It only got one Oscar nomination, for Joanne Woodward for her performance as Eve, a Southern woman with multiple personality disorder.
Woodward won, and it's easy to see why.
Based on a true story.

Watched The Mummy Hammer Films sequels The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb and The Mummy's Shroud and they were really disappointing especially when compared to the Terence Fisher film with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

Just watched Hellraiser again. Not sure I liked it as much as my first viewing some years ago when I first started watching the whole movie series. Still good and at least one of the top three contenders in the movie series. I thought I remember liking the sequel more but I'd have to watch that again to remember. At least in the second viewing I know the parts my stomach can't handle. The first viewing was quite horrific.

I thought the first Hellraiser was quite good, one of the better horror movies I've seen - maybe not quite in the very first rank of all-time classics, but a more than respectable effort.
The second was a bit too jazzed up, to me. The Cenobites, or whatever they were called, were too demystified and it all felt like a weak fantasy movie with horror trappings.
