The three different pubishers of '80-'90 U.S. reprints of 2000AD material used three different methods to deal with the tabloid --> comic aspect ratio disparity, two acceptable and one criminal IMO. Eagle Comics simply shrunk the pages down to comic size, so there was extra whitespace at the top and bottom. Then Dez Skinn's Quality Comics did the same, but hired artists to extend the pages up and down to fill in that whitespace. But then came the next the next iteration of Quality Comics, which optically stretched the pages to fit, giving everyone egg-shaped heads and generally throwing all proportions out of whack.

I don't recall Eagle comics leaving white spaces at the tops and bottoms of pages. They certainly started out tampering with the artwork. Here's a page from Judge Death Lives (2000 AD #224, reprinted in Eagle's Judge Dredd #3). In addition to extra space added to panel 4, the page has been cropped on the right.

I apologize if this is in poor taste, but I was reading a Savage Sword of Conan mag today and the thought struck me as to how Conan didn't catch a disease from all of his conquests. I don't think Roy ever touched on this, but I swear he mentioned something about Conan's body odor, which is another thing that bugs me whenever I read Conan.

It may be in poor taste, but I recall joking about it at least once here before in a discussion about the What If? Conan story (the one where he's in the modern world briefly): to wit, at the end of the story, the modern-day woman Conan hooked up with gave him her cap - and he gave her the Hyborian clap.

There was no reboot after either Secret Wars mini. Some changes, mostly temporary, were made but nothing like a line-wide continuity reset (though Jim Shooter allegedly wanted one).
Cei-U! I summon the clarity!
I *think* they may referring to the 2015 Secret Wars, which was basically Marvel's COIE in that it reduced everything to only one universe at the end (no idea if that has stuck though) In my opinion, 2015’s Secret Wars was an “eat your cake and then have it too” reboot.

Do you guys think it would make sense to start a dedicated thread for all the continuity stuff (maybe "Continuity Corner") since I know some folks really enjoy covering this type of content and some of the topics will probably continue to get discussed for years and years? zaku , I'm thinking some of that list stuff you started would be good foundational information for such a thread. While we've had plenty of other prior discussions (I started a Crisis thread that went pretty long some time back), again, I feel like this is an area of ongoing debate and we're probably way past "quick question" here.

Since you started a Crisis thread, I would say there would be no need to launch another, but it might be interesting to dive into Marvel's handling (and eventual mangling) of continuity and retcons (i.e. just how to fit all of Captain America and Bucky's WW2 adventures of the Golden and retconned Silver-Modern Ages to a believable calendar of the war, since Cap WW2 stories were so great in volume).

Yeah, I'm not proposing another Crisis-specific thread, I mean a catch-all for ALL continuity type conversations like what you just described as well. Since we were talking here about post-Crisis reboots (DC AND Marvel), I'm just wondering if it might be nice to have a "home" for all of that kind of dialogue.

A “home” for all kind of dialogue would be good (I promise I won’t talk about the lack of continuity between the old National Wrestling Alliance and whatever the NWA is now).
There are numerous good reasons for a thread, I feel, including discussion about, say, Zero Hour.

There used to be a Continuity forum at CBR. It was later replaced by... the Classic Comics board.
Cei-U! Everything old is new again!

I'm kind of past the original Crisis, but the fall of Hal was a really interesting premise and shocker at the time. And I'm down with some wrestling continuity sprinkled in...analogize away my friend! There used to be a Continuity forum at CBR. It was later replaced by... the Classic Comics board. Cei-U! Everything old is new again! It's like a "circle of life" thing, comic book life that is!

Maybe they started cropping and stopped? I'm working off memory, and my comics are inaccessible right now. I'll see if I can find any examples online.
