Hello, I am Cattysquaw, my real first name is Cheryl, I used to be on CBR as Joedocwife, married to Jodoc. but as of today have decided to give up on it. I really miss the Rita's group, CBR is not the same anymore, I will only be on CCR now.
I am a fan of wonder woman, she hulk, avengers, archie and static. Disappointed they are canceling the current She-Hulk, the current status of Wonder Woman is not great and looking forward to the new Avengers Movie. Have seen the last one over 20 times. Hey Joedocwife! how funny we all decided to make the jump from CBR right around the same time. I just decided last night to start posting more here Hey Bert! Yeah I think a lot more CBR will be coming over, atmosphere not good over there.

Thanks for the welcome, the current She Hulks are wonderful, Charles Soule writer, great story lines and art work. I do not have any of the Slott ones, trying to locate some volumes now, right now I have the Savage She Hulk with Kraft writing, very witty. I agree with CBR becoming unwelcoming and elitist, I was only doing the cover contest and avoided everything else. You know it is almost over when Puma is not tallying the contests anymore. Slott does very well in my opinion. The first series (12 issues if I recall correctly) is great. It had a good mix of all kinds of stories from Jennifer's court room cases to She Hulk fighting cosmic battles. I remember what I've read of the second series being a good mix as well. Really the only big difference to me was that Bobillo wasn't doing all the art with Slott and really liked his take on She Hulk. I may at some time finish the second series. I have nothing against Peter David, he just wasn't Slott at the time and I guess I just didn't want to take the chance.

hey all, bert. I joined up a while back, but just never posted much. I've really slowed down on posting at CBR (I came back after Jonah re-booted in April), but lately, just haven't been enjoying it much. many of y'all might remember me from back at CBR from the time just after it switched to CBR from the Kingdom Come boards (long live Purple/Green and Orange/Purple messageboards!). . until I left with most of the YABs board to follow Gail over to Bendisboards. those shut down a few months back (and although we do have another Gailboard set up. . it hasn't gone "general" public yet, and we've kept it to under 100 posters). So yeah, guess I'm in the mood to interact with more folks than just the same ones i've chatted with for years now at Gail's site (s). anyways. . I'm gonna try to check, in here more often. so "hi" again to those that I know, "hello" to those I don't, and "feel free to ignore" to those that don't care for me. bert Welcome to the family, studdmuffin!

Hello, First post here so I'll introduce myself. I'm a 56 year old male living in Scotland that has just rediscovered comics. My kids aged 12, 10 and 5 are just discovering them for the first time and I've suddenly come over all nostalgic. And really wishing I had kept the mountain of books I accrued as a kid when I worked weekends in a second hand bookshop and picked up copies of early 60s Marvels for 2 or 3 pence a copy. I'm a reader not a collector. I don't really care what condition my comics are in as long as they are readable. I guess I'll be lurking mostly and learning but, just to stick my toe in possibly contentious waters, is there a thread hereabouts about binding comics into volumes? I've a had a poke around but not found one - or is this a topic so dangerous it's best avoided?

I do enjoy browsing through second hand bookshops and I have many of those in my area.

Always nice to see a fellow Britisher in the forum (I live just outside London). You'll find that you are far from alone in being a comic reader, rather than a comic collector in this forum. There used to be a thread about bound comics in the old Comic Book Resources classic comics forum that many of us used to frequent, until said forum was deleted eight months ago or so. But currently there isn't one here...yet. Feel free to start a new thread on the subject in the Classic Comics General Discussion forum, I'm sure some folks will chime in on the subject.

Feel free to start it. Several folks here, including myself, have considered doing bound volumes for certain runs in our collections Welcome to the CCF!

Welcome all !
This is the most welcoming and non-offensive set of boards I've ever encountered.
junkmonkey, that's a subject that interests me a lot and will be actively pursuing after I get my collection catalogued. I too am much more a reader than collector.

One friend does quite excellent bindings of runs he collects that never got collected. He makes beautiful collections, often better collections I find than the publishers do, often. If nobody on these forums has anything useful to add, I'll ask him where he goes on the internet to discuss the work.

Welcome, junkmonkey! I'd also like to see a thread on bound comics. I had several volumes made back in the '70s--Iron Man, Howard the Duck and Kirby's Demon--that I later sold. I'm always keeping an eye out for them at conventions to see what kind of prices they bring.
And bert! Great to see you here!
Cei-U! I summon the noobs... and here they are!
