Thanks for the welcomes. And I'm glad that I'm not committing a terrible sin in sewing my books together and making covers for them.
I've kind of worked out a method that works after a bit of trial and error - I started out making 'books' of some uncollected Xena comics for my Xena obsessed 10 year old daughter as a Christmas present. I'll cobble together a walkthrough of what I do and start a new thread when I have. I'm sure there is much scope for improvement in my method.

That sounds awesome, and I've actually read those Xena comics and they are surprisingly good.

I do like Xena Comics from Dynamite Comics unfortunately my Comic Book store closed and the others in my area don't carry them anymore. It's ashamed that there isn't many XENA fans in my area. I'm happy that a new fan just joined us here in CCF.

Hello, First post here so I'll introduce myself. I'm a 56 year old male living in Scotland that has just rediscovered comics. My kids aged 12, 10 and 5 are just discovering them for the first time and I've suddenly come over all nostalgic. And really wishing I had kept the mountain of books I accrued as a kid when I worked weekends in a second hand bookshop and picked up copies of early 60s Marvels for 2 or 3 pence a copy. I'm a reader not a collector. I don't really care what condition my comics are in as long as they are readable. I guess I'll be lurking mostly and learning but, just to stick my toe in possibly contentious waters, is there a thread hereabouts about binding comics into volumes? I've a had a poke around but not found one - or is this a topic so dangerous it's best avoided? Man, I would love to see a pic of one of your bound books.

Welcome, junkmonkey! I'd also like to see a thread on bound comics. I had several volumes made back in the '70s--Iron Man, Howard the Duck and Kirby's Demon--that I later sold. I'm always keeping an eye out for them at conventions to see what kind of prices they bring. And bert! Great to see you here! Cei-U! I summon the noobs... and here they are! good to see ya Kurt, and thanks for the welcome

Loren, who is a friend of, but not a member of, this community, posts in this community: marvelmasterworksfansite.yuku.com/forums/2/Uncollected-Editions-The-Homegrown-Hardcovers-Binding-Forum#.VKinUFWJOuYAnd he says it's a great place to discuss binding comics. He has a thread for his own work there: marvelmasterworksfansite.yuku.com/topic/24274/Lorens-BooksBut I would also be quite interested in a thread here. It's not something I ever expect to do, but I love seeing Loren's finished products.

A little known fact about me -- even among my friends -- is that I'm actually a qualified book binder and worked as such for a while (although I've not done anything bindery-related for over a decade), so I'd be really interested in your process.

And here are the ones I made for my daughter - the Black Orchids were the next ones I did (for me) and include a crossover copy of Swamp Thing. I had a whole load of fun doing the cover art. comics1 by the_junk_monkey, on Flickr Confessor, I'd value your input. Still working on a walkthrough.
