Hello! New to these boards. I tend to post and browse a fair bit on /r/comicbooks but I figured I might as well make an account here because I'm very interested in getting into Golden Age (and eventually Silver Age) comics. This looks like a really nice and welcoming community, and I hope to participate here more once I get around to ordering my first ever set of Golden Age comics in the form of the Golden Age Superman Volume 1 paperback, recently put out by DC. I've become a big Superman fan recently after having read Birthright, All-Star, and Red Son, and I'd love to read many of Superman's (and others') earliest stories both as historical timepieces and out of genuine interest for the stories themselves. Although I'm only 22 I was raised on entertainment by my parents from an early age like I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, the Dick Van Dyke Show, and many "classic" films from the late 40s, 50s, and 60s. I've been told by various people that I'm really going to love Golden Age and Silver Age comics, and I hope they're right. The Golden Age of Comics is my favorite era of Comic Book History ... Just out of curiosity what kind of Coffee do you like? And, a big fan of Superman too ...

I tend to favor medium roasts, like Starbucks's Pike Place or Peet's Café Domingo, if we're talking "mainstream" coffees. I used to like frappucinos when I was younger, but now I find them sickeningly sweet. I was subjected to Green Mountain coffee during college and always thought it was pretty awful. There's a local gourmet company called Red Whale that makes some terrific blends; I splurge on those rarely, but whenever I do I'm not disappointed. My girlfriend has a Keurig that I actually find adequate for a quick cup of coffee in the morning; however, I've always found using a coffee grinder with fresh beans and a basic pour-over will always produce a much richer cup.

Good morning! I got into comics (exclusively Marvel for years X-titles for the most part) at possibly the worst time, late '92. Grim N Gritty 90's are in full swing, pouches pouches pouches, the Image exodus, speculator boom about to pop, style over substance, etc. Not knowing any better I fell in love anyway and spent as much time as I could immersing myself into the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, playing catch up with TPB's and the back issue bins.
I've used forums like this for answers or reference in the past but was never active. That of course has changed and I'm excited to be here... Excelsior!

Welcome to the forum Snikts and Stones. If you're a big fan of Wolverine and Mick Jagger and the boys, then that might just be the greatest forum name ever. Enjoy your time here!

Hey I missed this thread! Name's Kelly, rhymes with Telly who was in Horror Express. I like that film.
My favorite comics Spider-man, especially the Steve Ditko issues. I started reading during Ross Andru's run. I got How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way in 1978 but I never could draw like Buscema. I did use the book to help me with sculpting though.
One time Todd McFarlane came to visit my high school and a teacher told him to stop talking in the hallway. I wrote a letter to Ditko recently and he replied. I put it with my Spider-man comics. The oldest Spider-man I have is issue #25. I also like Sword and Sorcery comics. Fond of EC comics too.
I like the Thing, the Hulk (can't forget Man-Thing and Rom), but don't care for Wolverine, or the Punisher. I don't have a preference between Superman and Batman.
Favorite super villain: Mysterio (greatly influenced by 60s Spider-man cartoon interpretation). For similar reasons I also liked Toyman, Black Manta, and Captain Cold from the Superfriends show.
The one time comics got me into trouble in school was in kindergarten when they were serving apple sauce in 7 11 superhero cups. I saw the Spider-man and had to have it. I got scolded for acting before I was supposed to, but I got the Spider-man!
