I think you need 3 posts to your name before you can start a thread. It's an anti-spambot measure we have in place.

Hey, people! New user here. Greetings from Finland. I've been lurking for a week or two, but now I'm out and about. When can I start making threads, huh? Hi there, I have been in Finland back in 1994 for a week and spending a day in Olvinlinna Castle and two days camping at Kolvesi National Park too. I did that in the middle of the week and bookend my trip to the capital of Finland, Helsinki and spending some time with my friend who had a job there for two years for work establishing relationships. Beautiful Country and spent two days in your Capital City on a layover getting back to London, England in 2002. Welcome to CCF and happy to have an international member here.

Thanks guys!
Can someone tell me the secret origin of this board? I saw a bunch of people referring to a CBR-purge. What happened with that one, and how'd you end up here? I know CBR, of course. It used to be cool, now it's kinda horrible-ish.

Hello, people!
Huge comic fan here. Grew up mainly reading DC (am still more of a DC guy at heart), but I enjoy Marvel very much, too. I consider the Flash, Aquaman and Hawkman to be the most underrated heroes in comics.
In recent years, I've tried to broaden my horizons with Image, Dynamite, Dark Horse, etc.
As a Brit, I did also read the likes of 2000 AD, Eagle (1982-1994 version), The Beano, and The Dandy.
I've lurked at this forum for about a fortnight - a friend recommended it to me, and I thank her for that - and it's been fascinating reading the articulate, insightful and enjoyable comments here. I look forward to getting to know you all.
Thanks!

Welcome @taxidriver1980 to the CCF. Join into the festivities as you step from the shadows into the sun and fun to be shared here by all. Many of us in the last few years lurked as well before jumping in but this is a grand and friendly environment that we share in.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.
I can't recall the exact year I started reading comics, Michael. Probably 1985-86. It was mainly DC titles on the shelves - there were very few, if any, specialist comic stores by me - so I was able to pick up Superman, Flash, Batman, etc. Occasionally, Fantastic Four and Hulk titles showed up, but there was no consistency.
Of course, in a world where there were fewer crossovers and multi-part epics, it wasn't as unwieldy as 99% of the comics I bought had standalone tales.

I'm a fan of the Flash, Hawkman, and Aquaman and the Satellite Era of the Justice League too @taxidriver1980 -- And, most importantly thanks for dropping by and share a bit about yourself and I do dabble with Image and Dynamite Comics too. Welcome to CCF!

Glad to see you liked what you saw here too! I just realized I don't think I ever introduced myself here. People probably already know I'm very '70s Marvel oriented, at least lately, but have also been catching some later Marvel and DC I missed from the '90s-'00s. I was a major junkie circa 1979-1986.

Welcome to the forum, @taxidriver1980. I'm a Brit myself and there are one or two others here as well. It's always good to swell the British ranks and bring more good, old fashioned stuff-upper lippedness to the forum among all these uncultured and uncouth Yanks. God Save the Queen!
