What is your favorite genre in comics besides super heroes? Growing up I loved war comics. Today I find myself interested in old Archie & Harvey titles.

I like a lot of comics that aren't superhero-focused, but I don't know that I have a preferred genre.

Mine would have to be horror. While there are other genres out there, it seems that the horror subset remained strong regardless of who was doing the publishing. While I'm not really saying that horror provides greater variety than other genres, it does seem to offer wider possibilities even while adhering to a rather straight forward formula. I love Mad for instance, but I can't think of another publication that attempted humour without doing anything more than copying Mad as closely as they could. Whereas for whatever reason, I actually think some imitators of the EC blueprint for horror actually turned out better material on a not infrequent basis.

I'd have to say funny animal. Herriman, Kelly, Barks, Gottfredsen, Mayer, Saba, Sakai, Rosa and so many others (even Crumb, for heaven's sake!) have done spectacular work in the genre, much of which is still as fresh and timely as the day it was published.
Cei-U! I summon the cool critters!

I'm not sure I have a favorite genre. I do know that it's not super-heroes.
I really just want it to be well written.

I read a ton of non-super-hero stuff in a wide variety of genres. I probably read as much, if not more, non-super-hero material than capes material now. Hasn't always been the case, but now it is.
Among my favorite genres would be: 1) sword and sorcery 2) crime/noir 3) horror 4) adventure (including spy fiction) 5) martial arts 6) science fiction 7) slice of life (particularly the Eisner type stuff like Dropsie Ave) 8) war
I am probably more diverse in the genres of comics I read than I am in prose fiction that I read these days, and definitely more diverse than in the types of movies and television I watch.

I have no real preference, as long as it's well written. Living in the UK, superheroes have never been all that comics were about, for me-I grew up with anthology titles that featured a variety of genres, from war to sci-fi to juvenile humour, and I like them all.

I guess I'd say sci fi. Then a dash of war, and sword and sorcery / fantasy, a hint of crime noir, and just a pinch of horror. I enjoy a greater variety of genres in other media but my comics are predominantly capes.

I'd have to count, I don't think I am really genre focused, more on artist/writer, but Sci-Fi is probably the biggest chunk. Closely followed by Fantasy, Thriller/Crime, Humor and Historical Fiction. (In about that order). I like horror in regular prose, but I don't think I have much horror comics.

Adventure, whether we're talking the Disney Ducks (it was their adventure stories that spoke to me; not the day-in-the-life comedy setups), Tintin and Snowy, or Usagi Yojimbo. And really, my favorite Science Fiction and Fantasy comics are all essentially adventure stories at heart too. Cerebus, Conan, Elric, Planet of the Apes, Kamandi -- all series that involved moving to new previously unknown regions, storyline after storyline, in order to keep things fresh.

Probably crime. I remember liking 100 bullets when I read it.

Probably humor/satire, from Archie, to ducks, to MAD, to undergrounds, etc. Few things are more satisfying than a comic gag that actually elicits a laugh.
