Link a URL and Images
http://
Can you get rid of this annoying (http://) field when we post a link via url and photos from the internet to help us to reinforce our own opinions?
It would speed things up!

Honestly, I don't understand your question. "http://" is a part of the URL address. What are you suggesting the board should be able to do?

I think he's talking about the window that pops up when you click on the "insert picture" button. When it comes up Http:// is already populated onto the url line, usually it just vanishes when you click it and hit paste but there have been times in the past that for whatever reason it did not vanish and I've ended up with two http's which made the image un-viewable until I clicked on the bbcode option and deleted the redundant http tag. |

Here's what support had to say:
"It would be user error, for lack of a better word. It is highlighted when it first pops up, and if you right click and paste immediately, the http:// will disappear. However, if you left click into the text box, the highlight will disappear, and if you then paste, you are left with the double http://. This is how your computer and browser behaves."
That being said, they're now exploring whether or not there can be a submission check that would check for the double http:// and strip one when necessary.

Shax, the only videos that I work with is both Dailymotion (about 10% of the time and it's frustrate me to resort to links) and You Tube that works all the time. I have posted some Vimeo in the past - very rare and they works too. All the others no. So, it's about 90 percent You Tube and 10 percent Dailymotion and a couple of Vimeo from time to time. That's all that I can think of. |

That's all that I can think of. I meant today. Can you verify this is happening with more than one video? And if so, from more than one source? I'm on my mobile, so I can't do much for you right now, but if we can narrow the problem down, that might help. |

Or are you saying that Dailymotion videos have never been able to be displayed here? I wouldn't know. I don't use Dailymotion myself.

Every time I try to use Dailymotion videos here - I had to use link button to order to for all of us here to play them and that's seems to be the problem. They don't display like You Tube at all. I use Dailymotion as a last resort if You Tube doesn't have the video I want. They seems to have the videos that I want and I can get them (Dailymotion) fast. To narrow down the problem - I might need a day to think about it and I hope that I can come up a solution to it. |
