Shellhead, Cleo, and the infamous Mad (mispelled) Pharoah ... 'nuff said see addendum below Addendum: Marvel's superhero and western comics on sale in May 1963 were emblazoned with "Marvel Comics Group Ushers in The Marvel Age of Comics!" Here, that slogan is oh-so-cleverly positioned on a pyramid.

This is semi off topic , but here goes- In the boilerplate language of the rules it states to place your vote in bold. But even if it's not, those votes should count. It doesn't say that the non bolded votes are disqualified. I just raised an objection over in CBR which might get me banned, because 2 votes were not counted because it wasn't in bold. The original reason for having the vote in bold was to make it easier for a person to tally up the results. I feel by nullifying that vote , it goes against the spirit of the fun of this contest. Some devices do not have the capability of bolding the text. mrp won the last contest with 7 votes. Does it mean that if he received 5 votes that were not in bold he would have lost? It is a simple courtesy to the person doing all the work running the contest so everyone else in the community can enjoy having the contest. Votes are easy to miss, especially when the vote is within a body of text, or several names are mentioned in a single post. Plus lots of people are still commenting during the voting period so not every post has a vote in it and you have to sift through a number of posts to see if there is a vote or just commentary. When I was doing the tallying, during the counting I didn't even look at posts that didn't have bold in it, because I put them into the "this is just commentary and irrelevant to the voting process" category. Every voting has procedures to follow and if the voter does not do it correctly, the vote is disregarded. The balance is a voter taking the time to bold a vote vs. the organizer having to sort through 30-40 posts and 50-60 names to pick out 20 some odd votes. And if its a close vote, having to do it not once, but likely several times to check and double check the vote to ensure the results are accurate. On the whole it is a lot easier to just bold the vote. -M

almost went with a "ROM" cover, but simply can't pass this one up that I stumbled upon (while looking for the Rom cover!): "he waited three thousand years to WREAK" ( I do not think that word mean what you think it means!).

Eh, the editor former writing teacher in me thinks it passes muster.... He waited 3000 years to to (mete out/deliver/exact/etc.) the revenge of the monster... seems ok. Maybe not the best diction in this case, but not incorrectly used. -M

Mummies in general may not be Egyptian exclusive, but N'Kantu the Living Mummy certainly is -M

BTW Bert, mummies aren't exclusive to Egypt and can be found in many south american cultures, even in China, Spain or Japan, all with the same legends of living mummies Marvel's living Mummy was N'Kantu, chieftain of the Swarili nation (not part of Egypt), a Nubian kingdom on Marvel's 616 Earth. He was enslaved by Egyptians and made immortal by an evil Egyptian wizard, so it just about passes the knuckle test.
