Zach Snyder's lastest quote... This is in a nutshell why the DC movies tend to fail in public perception and MArvel succeeds. The people working on the DC movies are embarassed to be working on comic book films and do not embrace what they are doing. Instead of doing what they are doing well, they try to make it something it isn't and alienate the audience in doing so to salvage their fragile egos becuase they are stooping to do super-heores. Goyer wreaks of this arrogance as well. More Snyder... Hmm, Marvel can take D list character aand succeed, you guys have A-list characters and underperform...jealous much? Sour grapes. You took perhaps the most well-regarded comic of all time with Watchmen and bungled the movie Zach...maybe it's not the material that matters but the talent and vision of the creators? story hereand while you're at it, try dropping a few more names so people think you're cooler, you didn't do it enough in the interview. -M

To quote Nick Spencer (current Ant-Man writer): "Zack Snyder not liking ANT-MAN is probably the nicest compliment you could give that movie."

What an ass. Ant-Man was far more enjoyable than the third movie in Nolan's trilogy or the last 3 (4? 5?) Superman movies that have been put out, because it was a good movie that happened to have a Marvel character in it.

Well, I can't say I like the guy (300 is one of the worst movies I ever saw!), but imho, most marvel movies are an embarassment to cinema. The first Captain America, wasn't great but at least somewhat held itself as a movie. Most of the other marvel movies are just punchlines, actions, CGI, fan service, and feel like blueprints instead of real movies. Very seldom do they make you feel an actual sense of geography, with characters hopping from one spot to another in hte span of a scene. I for one quite enjoyed most of Man of Steel, if for nothing else but its subjectivity. It was a real movie with a begining, a middle and an end, some character building, world building, etc. I've seen all marvel movies but Ant Man which I'll wait for a torrent as the reviews over here have been nothing but terrible.
I think that spielberg is right BTW, if the superhero movies don't slow down on fan service, they will soon fade away.

Well, Stan Lee cameos, referening various Iron Man armors, using marvel support character without even using anything substential from them but the name and the look, etc That's what I meant with that, but maybe I'm mistaken, again, I'm not that english fluent. If it's soely to refer sexual allusions, then indeed, I'm self expending the meaning

Honestly, what killed me the absolute most about Man of Steel was the excessive product placement. If the Batman/Superman film has one strategically placed IHOP or Sears sign, I'm walking out of the theater.
And I'm not even sure I'll be walking into the theater to begin with.

If it's soely to refer sexual allusions, then indeed, I'm self expending the meaning Fan service specifically refers to scenes that have little to do with anything but showing the leads (usually female) in sexual situations... things like randomly having a beach trip, or having characters chat in the bathtub, or a beach volleyball game, etc. It's mostly used in anime and manga, but not exclusively. We certainly got your meaning though.

Ah yeah, that I can't relate to, even if in this case it didn't strike me as I have no idea what IHOP or Sears are, not familiar with most US brands.

Zack Snyder has always been a hack. He defines "all flash and no substance".
And isn't he the same mook who made that pretentious pile of garbage "Sucker Punch"?
Ant-Man alone smacks the shit out of every movie Snyder has ever directed.
I hope the rumors are true about George Miller taking over the next Superman movie. I'd argue that Mad Max: Fury Road is the best action movie to come along since T2 almost 25 years ago.

I'm a Superman fanboy and a comics fan in general. I'll be going to any movie that has Superman in it, and sincerely hope the coming DC movies are awesome. I want to watch an awesome Aquaman movie, Flash movie, Wonder Woman movie, etc.. That being said, I'll be seeing them with - at best - cautious optimism. I'll be going to the coming Marvel movies expecting them to be at least reliably entertaining and often downright awesome...because they have been. Consistently. Give me a happy Ant Man movie over a depressing Superman movie (which I didn't even know were possible until they started making them) any day.

Snyder is a one-trick pony. And that trick stopped being interesting after the first time he pulled it.
