Ross Andru & Mike Esposito One day in the DC Comics offices late in 1960... Kanigher: "And then on the cover, I want to see a gigantic Wonder Woman embracing a huge skyscraper..." Andru: "Something like the UN or the PanAm Building?" Kanigher: "You're kidding me, right?"

Once again, she's too big for her britches. Good thing Lorena Bobbitt was not a subscriber as a kid...

ooo.. a chance to post one of my all time favorite covers! Love this one so much, I painted it in Jr. High Art Class, with a black-backwash to make it glow. More Fun Comics #54: Spectre vs planes!

This one was very nearly my example, but I reasoned that The Spectre is portrayed as a giant often enough that it may have been confusing to start off with. It's one of my favorites too.

Normally itty-bitty Atom becomes a relative giant in comparison to his teeny-tiny pals. Is green arrow shooting fireworks with his bow?! Of course he is. How often do you think he gets to use his fireworks arrow?

Apparently the Comics Code Authority was ok with scantily-clad women embracing giant phallic symbols on comic covers.

The Brotherhood of Giant Evil Mutants, featuring the Green Witch! ... LOL! Or the Emerald Enchantress...but I guess Stan had already reserved part of that name for Thor's flaxen-haired Asgardian antagonist (who made her debut a mere month after Wanda).

I'm glad I spent some time thinking about this. When I saw the contest had started a few hours ago, I thought of a couple of covers that would work. (When the Atom was gigantic in JLA in the 1980s, also a symbolic Spider-Man cover (there were several that came to mind).) Nice covers, but I decided to go about my business for a few hours and hope that something good came to mind. And that's why you got ... GIANT ZOOK from House of Mystery #143! I've never read it but I love the old Martian Manhunter series. I've read quite a few in about 12 issues of Detective Comics I have from #301 to #326. I bet House of Mystery #143 is a classic of its kind.
