That second Dr Light costume was atrocius. I have no idea why they felt they needed to change it, the black and white version was great. From a character standpoint, one can understand her wanting to distance herself from her predecessor...

#30 AtomAlter Ego - Ray Palmer First AppearanceShowcase #34 (Oct. 1961) Silver and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostThe Atom Insignia on his Mask and Belt - Simple & Clean and a good use of Blue and Red. I also like the way they incorporate his ears to be sticking out - that's made him very unique too. Red Gloves and Blue Boots - Alternating Colors! Picture 1Favorite Atom Story from the Silver Age. Pictures 2 to 4Cool Picture of the Atom above you! ... Neat Shrinking Picture below you! From JLA - The Nail Story No love for Rays Kid Flash look or jungle adventure look?

I'm not familiar with these books and because of that I was so focusing on Ray Palmer, Alan Pratt, and Albert Rothstein. I wasn't introduced to these two characters at all. That's why I did not include these two characters in the first place. BTW, my interest in the Bronze Age of Comics is very weak and I did not read comics books from 1988 to 2002; because I was working 65 hours a week for Boeing. I hope you'll understand that.

Those aren't different characters. They're both Ray Palmer, just in different costumes.

#28 AquamanAlter Ego - Arthur Curry First AppearanceMore Fun Comics #73 (November 1941) Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostUnique Blend of Green and Orange alike - I would rate it higher if they did not change the gloves (Yellow from the Golden Age) but I was torn apart about placing him at this position. I almost had him and Aqualad reverse from Aquaman going down to #32. More that I've think about it; I think this picture below would been better. In my days of reading (as a kid/teenager) comic books - I did not see much of this version and it's sad to say this - this one would be my dream Aquaman in the Silver Age of Comics. Picture 1One of my prized Aquaman books that I owned. Marriage of Mera and Aquaman! ... With the members of the Justice League of America surrounding the ceremony. Pictures 2 to 4Some of my favorite pictures of Aquaman ...

I've never read any Aquaman, but I like that cover a lot...just screams "Silver Age DC". And the second picture I've quoted is the sort of image that makes me think that I should sample some classic Aquaman.

#27 LightrayAlter Ego - Solis First AppearanceNew Gods #1 (February 1971) Silver and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostGolden Bands in his gloves, boots, belt, and neck collar. Distinctive White Costume with an bold red/black chest insignia. One of Jack Kirby's coolest work. I was shocked to see him working in DC Comics and was stunned by it. I was a huge New Gods fan and the Forever People too. Pictures 1 and 2Great Splash Pages of Lightray here! Pictures 3 and 4I just loved this picture above you! One of Jack Kirby's better works and I was always a big fan of this character!

I always liked Aquaman and his costume. I never thought of him as a "joke" as it seems some considered him over the years. Anyone who can command sharks via telepathy and live underwater seems pretty cool to me. I always imagined his orange shirt was more of a shimmery gold material that probably was difficult to translate in the silver age printing process for that era. To me, he was regal and classy looking.

And the second picture I've quoted is the sort of image that makes me think that I should sample some classic Aquaman. I think the starting point that slowly brought the Bronze Age into the Dark Age was the death of Aqua Baby. That's when it started to go sour.

Aquaman's Blue Costume - I have mixed feelings about this look and I find it a bit odd when they change it back then. I just can't say that I've liked it or not; but I just don't know exactly how I feel about it. That's why I struggle when they did this change in the first place. That's my honest assessment here.

It certainly makes sense as underwater camouflage--certainly moreso than orange and green. For the same reason, it may not have worked well in story pages where he was underwater a lot of the time.

Am I the only one who liked Aquaman's blue costume? I thought it was a very cool design by Neal Pozner, who was Phil Jimenez' partner in life until his untimely death. Neal also created the artistic design for this album cover: He sure liked the blue wavy look.
