The blue and white with the halo emblem is my favorite Angel costume. With the early X-men, the generic uniforms didn't really bother me. I recently finished X-Men Omnibus volume 1 and the costumes struck me more of the school uniform. However, I was happy when the team got their own individual looks, around issue 39 I think. Yep, this one, a little fussy but still a lot better than the Archangel look, I think... I agree, that one is a bit fussy. Maybe if they had gone with red and white or blue and white as the primary colors. I like the wrist bands, the mask, the straps across the chest. Angel (when drawn correctly) is an amazing looking, handsome, striking character.

#32 The Human Torch, of the Fantastic FourAlter Ego - Jonathan Lowell Spencer "Johnny" Storm First AppearanceThe Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961) Silver Age of Comics Costume Features that I like the mostOne of the most detailed costumes of the Silver Age of Marvel, they did a great job drawing flames all over his body and did it with a class on it's own. Very realistically done and I loved the way they did additional layers of flames incorporating depth. Four Fiery Photographs of the Human Torch!Flame On!

I think this image here is actually of the original Human Torch, isn't it? In the Bronze Age, they always differentiated between the two by having the original appear featureless when aflame, while Johnny's face was clearly visible.

Green and purple just work as a colour scheme in superhero/villain costumes, for some reason...

Human Torch: One of the most visually striking characters around! Always liked the way he looked when flying around, the fire trailing around him. I know the 00s Fantastic Four movies were panned, but I thought Chris Evans was awesome as Human Torch. For me, it was like the comic come to life.
Hulk: another commanding look. Green skin, angry features, torn purple pants. Nothing like seeing "HULK SMASH!!!" I always wondered why Bruce Banner would be in khaki or gray pants, but when he hulked out, they turned purple. Also I always thought Hulk would have ripped right through the pants and be running around in the buff, haha! Of course, that would not fly in the comics. Lou Ferrigno brought him to perfect life on TV, Mark Ruffalo in film.

Black Cat's costume is pretty cool, and mostly practical, as Confessor say, but what are those white furry sleeves all about?

Yes, I've always felt that this one was too busy, like they couldn't decide what to do and threw a bunch of different things in there.

Problem with Angel from my Perspective Part 2 of 2I read a lot of X-Men back in my youth, and sad thing to say to all of you here - I have to say that the stories, the concept, the creativity that Marvel Comics put forth into the Original X-Men and Angel here; that I'm not a fan of these costumes because it's too generic looking and too much of a team concept of X-Men. I loved, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, The Beast, The Angel, and Iceman too. I like the concept of a team wearing the same basic uniform, especially if they have a common origin. Kirby probably did too, considering the Challs and FF.

yeah, but for some reason the Challengers of the Unknown and the FF uniforms look good while the X-Men ones don't. There's something dull and the same time slap-dash about them, as if they were just thrown together out of whatever they could get.

That was the original, yes. Though to me, it never screamed "Britain" the way the red, white and blue one does. Sorry to momentarily hi-jack MechaGodzilla's thread, but yeah, as tingramretro says, the original Cap Britain costume was the red one with the golden lion on the chest. Soooooo much cooler looking that the red, white and blue monstrosity, with ludicrous thigh-high boots, that came afterwards. Here's a pic... Remember: British, therefore best! Who's the artist there - looks a bit like Gary Leach? it isn't a real cover, though?
