Starting tomorrow - I have been very busy selecting my all-time top 50 Marvel Comics Costumes from the GOLDEN AGE OF COMICS to the BRONZE AGE OF COMICS. This list is the toughest, the most difficult list that I ever put together and as I said in my previous list the DC COMICS SILVER/BRONZE AGES ... I have seen over 300 Costumes - In Marvel, it's around 100 to 150 costumes of all walks of life and it's not easy to pare that down to 50.My Favorite Marvel Comics LogoMy 1st Marvel Comics Book that I've ever brought and I got it from the Second-Hand Bins for a Dime long time ago and still have it! This group calls themselves THE INVADERS were my most favorite group in my early years of reading Marvel Comics and I just couldn't stop reading the hand-me-downs from my three older brothers who also enjoyed reading the INVADERS and their exploits and that started my love of Marvel Comics. I'm a DC Comics Fan 1st and Foremost and that's why I did the GOLDEN AGE 1st and followed by the Silver and Bronze Age 2nd. I have more of a history with DC Comics - but with Marvel it's more a specialized interest in the various SuperTeams and certain individuals that they had and I will get to that in my next post!

The Three SuperTeams that I really fell in love are:I had read and re-read over 200-300 issues of the Fantastic Four starring Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, Invisible Girl, and the Flaming Human Torch and I've never, ever got tired of them. I just loved the story-lines, the drama, the humor, and adventures, and most of all Stan Lee and Jack Kirby put together a gem of a group! Stan LeeJack KirbyMy 2nd Favorite of all time SuperTeam is the Avengers! My favorite team will always be Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Mighty Thor, and the Incredible Hulk! My 3rd Favorite of all time SuperTeam is the X-Men!My favorite team will always be Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, The Beast, The Angel, and later on Colossus, Storm, and the Canadian Superstar - The Wolverine! I also read countless Spiderman and Iron Man books that are too numerous to count and they are one of two favorite heroes that Marvel Comics produces. Matter of Fact, I have three IRON MAN in my Countdown - because he has some of the coolest costumes ever! The Invincible Iron-ManThe Amazing SpidermanNumber 50 and Number 49 will appear sometimes tomorrow and let's this ride begins ... it is the toughest 50 Marvel Heroes that I've put together - from all ages - Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ages!

Really looking forward to this-I'm a lifelong Marvelite (yes, i still use that word) and particularly love a lot of Marvel character designs from the 70s and early 80s. Though I guarantee my personal number 1 will not be on Mecha's list: Alan Davis's redesigned Captain Britain costume from 1981, an absolute classic. And here's the Captain's original look from his first appearance in 1976.

That is a fantastic cover-the villainous "Frau Ratsel", as the Invaders always called Warrior Woman. I loved that series, some of Roy Thomas's best work in my opinion. And it also gave us this guy, who I think has one of the best costumes in comics:

#50 The WhizzerAlter Ego - Robert L. Frank First AppearanceUSA Comics #1 (Aug. 1941) Golden Age of Comics Costume Features that I like the mostBlack W and Blue Boots/Briefs with one special touch - White Wings in his mask. What puts it down to #50 is the over abundance of yellow and it's doesn't leave much imagination in the first place. Another Favorite Picture of the Whizzer!More Favorites
Timely and Marvel Comics did a great job drawing him in the early 40's and I was impressed by it. Not much of a costume but I was a fan of All Winners Squad in the early days of Marvel Comics.

#49 Miss AmericaAlter Ego - Madeline Joyce First AppearanceMarvel Mystery Comics #49 (Nov. 1943) Golden Age of Comics Costume Features that I like the mostBlue Cape and Belt, pretty generic costume - but it's stylish, has class and definitely better than my Number 50, the Whizzer! I do like the top that's flare liked a skirt at the end of it. One of the Coolest Logos around Three Great Pictures of Miss America in Action!

#50 The WhizzerAlter Ego - Robert L. Frank First AppearanceUSA Comics #1 (Aug. 1941) Golden Age of Comics I think the greatest thing about the Whizzer, for me, was his origin. He gained super speed after breing bitten by a snake and given a transfusion of mongoose blood! That is just wonderfully bonkers in a way that only Golden Age comics can be.

The Whizzer: I agree, way too much yellow. Perhaps they thought yellow would "look" fast when he was in action? The design in similiar to the Silver Age Flash in terms of aerodynamics and I am sure it was a hit in the Golden Age. Unfortunately The Whizzer's design doesn't quite hold up today.
Miss America: cute and patriotic! While I prefer the Quality/DC version of Miss America, Marvel's Miss America could be the girl next door while DC Miss America and her costume revealed more skin. Great to see so many patriotic themed heroes emerging during World War II.

#48 The Sub-MarinerAlter Ego - Namor McKenzie First AppearanceMotion Picture Funnies Weekly (April 1939) Marvel Comics #1 (Oct. 1939) Golden Age of Comics Costume Features that I like the mostGold Belt, Green Trunks, and Winged Feet - And a fancy staff too! ... It's doesn't leave much imagination but I'm sorry that I placed him at Number 48 and having seen only hundred and possibly a hundred and fifty costumes in my time with Marvel Comics I have a fondness of his time with the Invaders and I like his early rivalry with the Human Torch - he has to be on this list. Special Note: Very Distinctive Hair-Style - Very Regal ... and his eyebrows too! I have a copy of this Comic BookGreat Splash/Pin-Up of Namor hereTwo Favorite Pictures of the Sub-Mariner here

#47 Invisible Girl / Invisible WomanAlter Ego - Susan Storm First AppearanceThe Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961) Golden Age of Comics Costume Features that I like the mostNothing Fancy, Practical, Easy on the Eyes, and I like the idea of Round White Circle Insignia with the Number 4 in the middle. Quite Simple and I like it anyway! Couple of Great Splash Pages HereI just loved these splash pages don't you? Sexy Susan StormPicture on your right is got to be the most ridiculous costume ever and I was shocked to see this change! It's even have a small, but significant (in a shape of a "4") boob window and I just can't believe they resort this idiotic change!

Why is his costume being yellow significant? A yellow chicken?
