I'm looking forward to the crossover too.
The question is how do they meet? Is Flash just going to run over to National City meaning that the Arrowverse also has Superman running around. Or is he traveling to another Earth (Earth CBS)? And if this Flash is making a run to other Earths, what other reality could he run to in late March? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It would be cool if they were all on the same Earth. I am guessing Supergirl is on an alternate Earth and somehow Flash ends up there. I am glad they are going to crossover though, however it happens!

I'm sure I will too, if I stick with it... it's just jarring at first. I just don't get the point of using the name if it's not the same character, you know? Is the character of Jimmy Olsen THAT compelling marketing-wise? Why not just have him a new character? It certainly was at first, especially as with what little we've seen of Superman it appears that we're meant to think he's the one from Man of Steel as he has the same costume from the film...and yet Jimmy is totally different than who we saw in the film. Once you get that out of your head though it works fine. And I don't think it's a marketing thing, it's a story thing; they wanted a character who could connect Supergirl to Superman and provide advice and wisdom in Superman's place and being close to Superman and witnessing a good chunk of his career Jimmy makes the most sense and they just decided to cast who they thought was best for that big brother role regardless of race. Was Jimmy Olson actually in the Man of Steel movie? I've looked at several sites at the cast list and there isn't a character "Jimmy Olson" (or "Jimmy" or "James") listed. The closest I've seen is a "Jenny" that worked at the Daily Planet.
As for the current incarnation on Supergirl, I think the actor is doing a fine job. I'm glad we're getting a version that's not all "Gee whiz, Mr. Kent, sir".

Which is to go the Batman/Wildcat route and ignore the whole question of how they manage to be on the same Earth. They meet, they team-up, they kick some butt, and part as friends. Easy.

You know, you're right; I was conflating the Jimmy we got in Superman Returns with the Man of Steel. And possibly the ending to Birthright too. It's funny how the mind works like that.

I think "Jenny" took his place in Man of Steel. I believe I read that Jimmy would be in Batman VS Superman. If I remember correctly, this Jimmy Olson was injured in the Metropolis devastation and lost his legs. Despite being injured, he champions Superman.

Don't feel bad. When I first read your post I was thinking that Jimmy was in the movie and played by Mehcad Brooks. It was a surprise when I looked it up and found out there was no Jimmy in the movie at all.

I find the illogical nature of the shape-shifting takes me out of the story (fantasy and SF still need to have their own logic). When J'onn J'onzz transforms into human form, a gun appears in a holster. I get that the holster is the same as his clothes, but how does the gun work? When he takes the gun out of the holster did he just rip-off a piece of his own body? When he shoots the bullets, is he really shooting little bits of himself? (For the record, I think Odo on DS9 is the best representation of a shape-shifter. There seemed to be thought put into what he could and couldn't do.) Otherwise, I appreciate the fact that there's a prime time network show that I can watch with my 11 year old daughter and not worry about her seeing or hearing anything inappropriate for her age. It makes her feel like a grown-up to watch something after 8pm

just watched the season finale. Like the rest of the series the episode felt a little uneven. Some great moments mostly between Supergirl & her sister. This season really had some growing pains. Favorite episode by far was the Flash crossover episode. Liked the cliffhanger ending...

I enjoyed the 2 part season finale. The series got off to a shaky start, but I enjoyed it. Hope it gets picked up for season 2, especially with the cliffhanger ending. Flash episode and the Silver Banshee/Livewire team up were my favorite 2 episodes. Also liked the episode about Winn and his father, the Toyman. I read that Lynda Carter will cameo if there is a season 2 and Superman may show up. Hopefully if there is a season 2, the producers will review what worked and what didn't in season 1 and come up with an awesome new season.

Wow, Lynda Carter will do a cameo - that's would be so cool! I've saw the series finale and it was somewhat a letdown to me and I wished that that end it a little better and all that. But, I need to see it again thanks for my cable system that automatically records top/popular shows and I can come up with a better explanation in the 2nd time around. About Superman showing up in Season 2 ... I heard rumors that Tom Welling of Smallville is coming back to Supergirl next year and I don't know it's true or not. That's would give the series a big shot in the arms.

Does she like not know that she can stay in space or what *confused* There is room for so much Improvement. I just hope they do it better in the Second Season. And does anyone know what is the other Kryptonian ship carrying that came out of nowhere?
