And now I'm going to be reading some Marvel Team-ups tonight. Doesn't that break your DC only pledge for the year...<gasp> the horror! -M

Actually, I think what's important with my promise is that I just expose myself to more DC reads and get more familiar with the DCverse, which I am doing. If I get everything on my wishlist for Christmas, I'll have a TON of new DC reads coming.

Yay!
1) The Doctor Strange one is part 3 of a 4 part story. This was during the short time when Team-Up was doing Looooong (for the '70s) extended stories. I like it a lot but it might lose something orphaned. 2) The Hulk one is part two of a two part story and is STILL continued next issue but it's so goofy/good. Spider-man and the Hulk in space! And it has John Byrne art!
3) Is kind of a mini-sequel to the story in Team-Up 68, but all you need to know is that The circus owner guy hates Spider-man because Spidey took his Man-Thing. I really like Nightcrawler so I'm a fan of this issue (and this is Kurt's only solo team-up book appearance until Guardians Team-Up # 6 in 2015) but it ain't the best thing Claremont ever wrote.
4) Cute "Adventures in Babysitting" riff. Spider-man and Kitty Pryde chasing some escaped kids through Morlock tunnels. Remade (and improve on!) in Marvel Age Spider-Man Team-Up # 3.

Those were all sent to me in a big box of comics that I was gifted by...I'm not sure if he's a member here or not, so I won't mention his name. I have the Spidey and Sub-Mariner team-up (was actually my first official Spider-Man read ever because I don't count AvX), and some Super-Villain Team-Ups with Doom and Sub-Mariner (and then they put them all into collection a year after I bought them...sigh). And just now I purchased Amazing Spider-Man #211, the two Daredevil and Spidey team-up books, and the Marvel Tales reprints of the Captain Britain and Spider-Man team-ups. I need to stop buying Marvel. I am being awful about my promise.

Although I did pledge to never buy a Rob Liefeld book and that one has lasted over 20 years.

And just now I purchased Amazing Spider-Man #211. . . Denny O'Neil's Spider-Man is adorably funny. #211 has one of my favorite scenes of a befuddled Peter trying to escape a noisy neighbor by doing a little web-swinging, with predictably un-heroic results:
(SPOILER ALERT for a 35 year-old gag)

Nightcrawler was my favourite member of the team when I was reading the Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne X-Men at the time it first came out, and I always felt he never got enough panel-time. Not sure how I'll feel whenever I get around to re-reading them after all these years, though. Haven't read New Mutants, that must have come out after I stopped following Marvel altogether in the early 80s.
